Another gay teen has taken his life after being bullied at school.
The body of 17-year-old Terrel Williams was found hanging in his closet by his mother just hours after being attacked by 5 classmates after school.
A student at Clover Park High School in Lakewood, Washington, Terrel had endured several attacks including being shoved into a wall and even having his ribs broken.
Terrel had written in a note before hanging himself saying that coming out as a gay teen and having a relationship with boyfriend, Daric Rawr were some of the happiest times of his life. The couple would have celebrated their seventh anniversary this Saturday, which would have been Terrel's 18th birthday.
In his suicide note, he also wrote about the bullying in his school as well as apologizing to his loved ones.
"I'm sorry to my immediate loved ones, but I feel suicide is the only way out. Today, was the record worst day of my life, some kids at school stole some of my stuff that I got from people I really cared about, and that really pushed me over the top, next to being shoved into a wall, and my ribs being broken."
Earlier this week, Terrel's mother Cheryl Williams wrote on Twitter:
"My son meant the world, and high school bullies pushed him over the edge. I hope and pray, that no other child ever has to go through what he did. Bullying isn’t worth it. Why can’t people just be nice?"
Terrel's boyfriend Daric said, "He loved life, but felt the need to take it, because [the bullying] didn’t stop … respectful, whole-hearted people like Terrel, and the growing number of others, shouldn't have to feel suicide is the answer, because bullies won’t stop."
We need to have stricter laws to MAKE bullies stop and to also get the message out there that suicide is not the answer.
Terrel had so much more to offer, as did the countless teens who have taken their lives due to bullying.

I mean I hope you kids aren't really listening to celebs that say "it gets better". You can't sit and wait for change sometimes you'll have to fight and take control of your life.

A guy posted this on IMDb, and I think it has a lot of truth to it...
Quote:
Dude come the hell on. So gay people are the only young people with problems? The only young people who get picked on? What about the handicapped students? People of different races (Cause lord knows anyone of Muslim heritage didn't have any problems after 9/11)? A native friend of mine got called the last Mohican by some guy he didn't even know. Why? Because he's Indian. And by your eyes, being called a *** is so much worse than any other name kids call eachother? Kids I knew with learning disabilities didn't like being called retards, but their suffering is somehow lessened because they're straight? Any other group? Well I'm sure that people in other parts of the world who are dying every day simply because they made the mistake of being born on the wrong side of a border or with a different color of skin are having a party about it. Because I know plenty of groups that are treated much worse than gay people are or ever will be.
Gays love to be victims. Look at the queens on this board that get their panties ruffled over every last thing. They love to cry discrimination, their rights being walked on, we have such a hard time of things. Tell that to a black man old enough to remember how they used to get treated, you would have to go queening to the cops because he'd backhand you. And people from all walks of life, sexual preference, gender etc get depressed. I attended a funeral a few weeks ago for a 15 year old that purposely got in front of a train. Yet again, a racial issue. I mean if you had to choose between being hated for your sexual preference or basically having your heritage and ancestors *beep* all over on a daily basis, which would you choose?
Another huge problem is people that put a bullseye on their foreheads. Kids are, well kids. Through grade school and most of HS kids are more or less jackals. They go for weak, easy targets. And when some guy comes in wearing more makeup than most of the girls or dressed to purposely stand out(You know exactly what I'm talking about)well of course the most likely outcome is going to happen. But it happens to everyone! The bullying thing? It happens to everyone, if you're fat, if you have glasses, you're not pretty, you suck at sports blah blah blah blah blah.
Personally I think that everyone needs to look around in general at kids today and say wtf are we doing wrong? Somehow in the last like 20 years things just got screwed up completely. Pre-Columbine, try to find anything similar to the Columbine massacre. There isn't much if at all. Look at the amount of teenage mothers, how common it is now. Even in the 90's, if you got pregnant in highschool it was like having aids. And you can't go a day without reading about some poor kid offing himself. Kinda feels like this generation just never got taught to deal with their emotions and thoughts in a remotely healthy fashion. Makes me a little bit scared to wonder what the next group is going to end up being like.

I agree which is why I didn't put another "GAY" suicide in the title. Instead suicide needs to be focused on in general but because of the recent "reported" suicides involving gays, the media is just looking for every suicide that involves the gays.

Katie I couldn't agree with your quote more. Gay bullying seems to be a more pressing issue, but I feel like too much emphasis is put on it. In a way, it's disrespectful to those other groups who have experienced endless bullying. When I see posts like these, the fact that they're bullying gay people doesn't frustrate me, it's the fact that they're bullying someone at all. Bullying is NOT ok. Boy, girl, young, old, gay, straight, whatever, it's not any worse or any better any way you slice it.

Oh yeah. I wasn't really talking about the gay part, but about the last paragraph I bolded. Bullying has always been around. I think we should be helping kids get stronger, if anything.
I don't care if he was gay or straight. All I know is a teen killed himself. Regardless of anything else, we should be focusing on their ages more than anything. Give kids higher self-esteem and they won't be killing themselves.
