Both Christina Aguilera and soon to be ex-husband Jordan Bratman are keeping mum on the reason they’re divorcing after 5 happy years. Their friends, though, are very talkative: and they claim her latest album had a lot to do with it.

As we also reported at the time, though fans loved Christina’s “Bionic,” critics and audiences at large didn’t give it a chance, calling it a “flop” when it failed to perform as expected.

As such, shortly after its release, Christina’s label called off all promotional duties, after previously announcing a tour to support it had also been canceled.

According to the New York Post, citing “friends” of the star (who choose to remain unnamed, as usual), Christina blamed Jordan for how badly “Bionic” fared and it eventually ruined their relationship.

As they put it, the singer believed she could have focused more on her comeback had it not been for Jordan. Since she didn’t, “Bionic” turned out to be a disappointment.

“Christina Aguilera split with husband Jordan Bratman after her recent career comeback fell flat, her friends say. The superstar told pals she was ‘upset and frustrated’ by the lukewarm response to her album, ‘Bionic’,” the NY Post says.

“She feels that he held her back when she wanted to focus more on her career,” one friend dishes for the publication. They don’t say more about it, though.

Clearly, this could be only an unfounded rumor – chances are fans won’t ever learn the exact reason that made the two decide it was time to move on separately.

Since she filed for divorce last week, Christina’s personal life has become tabloid fodder, with more and more “sources” claiming it was her love of women and Jordan’s jealousy that made their marriage crumble to dust.

Just the other day, word got out that Christina was rebounding from the failed marriage with none other that celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson, who was once Lindsay Lohan’s lover and presumed fiancée.

She said she worked very, very hard on it. So she spent time there.

She also promoted it heavily at first. Of course when it didn't sell, don't expect her to keep promoting. It takes money to make money.
