In addition to working on her upcoming world tour, Kylie Minogue is also preparing to re-release her eleventh studio album (via PopTrashAddicts). No concrete details or release dates have surfaced yet, but various producers and songwriters have been submitting material since the album was released back in early July — including “Cupid Boy” songwriter Luciana, who has sent in a new track titled “If I Ruled the World”.
After initially being released to strong sales — including a Top Twenty debut on the Billboard 200 and a recording breaking No. 1 debut in the UK — Aphrodite noticeably began to lose steam a few weeks into its release. Most of that could be attributed to the poor performance of the album’s two singles; especially “Get Outta My Way”, which has turned out to be one of the biggest bombs that Kylie’s ever had. Not only was it her worst charting single in thirteen years in the UK, but it was also the worst charting single of her whole entire career in Australia. Ouch.
Don’t worry, Kylie — we don’t expect you to be as beautiful, talented and successful as your younger sister, the literary genius Dannii Minogue.
The upcoming Les Folies world tour and re-release will both be vital in revitalizing the sales of Aphrodite. A brand new single would be ideal; if “Get Outta My Way” flopped then nothing else of ‘Aphrodite’ is going to float, not even the flawless “Too Much”.
