Sometimes I hear a song and many ideas about the video for these songs come to my mind...and than I watch a video and its completely different from what I imagined and often disappoints.
So I've been thinking about some videos for my fave songs. Let me shortly share a couple for the beginning.
You Lost Me:
Concept: Its mid 19th century, foggy weather, Xtina emerges out of the fog in a 19th century appropriate long dress, holding a gun, looking very sad and singing the song. And we understand that she's having a DUEL. Her opponent is a young beautiful dark-haired female, who her lover cheated on her with. The sign is given, they shoot, Xtina gets injured, she's singing her heart out....and it continues in such vein. Very dark and melancholic video, just like a song. I think it would be epic.
So What:
While the video for So What was amazing, I think it would have been a better idea to set the action in a bar in Ireland, where Pink drinks beer, men are around her drinking and laughing etc. When we are getting close to the chorus, somebody accidentally bumps her and when she sings "I'm gonna start a fight", she hits the guy and a huge fight breaks out. Huge bar brawl would be fun....it would be a big mess and very funny I think.
So what are your fave songs, for which you've imagined completely different story-lines and have been disappointed with the actual video? share your ideas with us
it starts of jon waking up in bed, since its based on the last track of Dreams..which is Everyone (moving on)
he starts doing the first verse
I believe what you say
I believe what you do
I believe what you do is for the good of everyone
Looking out the window looking back at his bed (which i'm in )
he keeps singing then theirs parts of the band together singing in a ally.
he walks out the appartment..the house is a little like the ones in Skins..you know Effys...it may be made in english this video...anyway he walks down the street singing all cute during when he sings,
It's the same everyday now, moving on
And though I don't know the way now, I walk on
.it goes to the 2nd verse with me waking up...looking lost..think were the F am i? i must of been totally wasted...i walk out the same way jon did...and kept walking and seeing his band pete and dann..in weird parts of the street looking at me odd....when the guitar solo comes...i hear the sound of their music ... where the ally is.... and goes on and on.....(it would make senses if you know the song)
I've found a new way to feel
I've got an old wound to heal
Now I wake on the ground
And hear the sound of everyone
till the guitar solo...
when he starts singing again...i finally find him..and just watch the band...when they sing
Somebody please, won't you show me the way?
And though I don't know the way now, I walk on
It's the same everyday no
i watch them to he stops singing...he drops his guitar...we look straight into each others eyes...then when the music kinda fades..down is when we both wake up were we started...
i cant explain it...but the picture in my head looks cool.
@Ahmed: I'm glad you liked my idea for YLM video. That vile ho that is Xtina comes up with such a masterpiece and than shoots a simple, in no way memorable video for that epic song. Boy I was mad. If she contacted me about this idea, I would save Bionic
@Musiclover: yeah, I still need to polish my ideas for YLM, that will be my masterpiece. I'm gonna make that vile ho that is Xtina reshoot the video
I'm waiting for your ideas. Very interested
@Marnie: girl you are killing me that was very cute and romantic. But you are thinking too much about the boys lol. Looking forward to hearing your other ideas.

I agree, you would have saved it... You should take this as a career
Once me and MonsterRoco came up with a video for 'Dramatic' by Britney.
Basically it is set in the French Revolution Marie Antoinette days.
It is set in the Palace of Versailles and it begins with a ball, picture the dresses of those times etc.
Britney walks down the stairs and the music beings, they dance all in time in one of those routines and Britney is dancing with a guy but she keeps looking over at another guy as she dancing. He is with another partner. The guy she is dancing with is meant to be her husband. She makes eye contact with the man shes looking at and then she slips outside and he follows her into the gardens and the kiss etc. Then as the second verse begins it's a new setting in a grand bedroom and it's basically a sex scene but not too graphic It then flashes to the ballroom again and everyone is dancing in time and there are also flashes to Britney outside with the guy again. At the end of the video it shows Britney walking back inside taking the hand of her husband and leaving the other guy. At the very end she catches the eye of another guy leaving you to wonder.
She was basically supposed to have been having an affair but ends it at the end of the video. That was like their last time together. She is singing the song to the guy she had an affair with.
@TSDMusicND: pretty neat. I could never do it myself, I am bad around technology, so good job.
@TinkerBellBritney: yeah it would look cool, having historic elements in the videos is always a good spectacle. But for once I want to see Britney's video where she doesn't act like a horn-dog, and I want a song which is serious and is not filled with sexual innuendos. She can do it, can't she?

loved your ideas but I think a "fight" was already used in "Trouble"
- Starts with Aguilera and a man, presumably her husband, face to face on the opposite sides of the table while with "a smoking gun". Setting would be in a suburban area, all shots will taken internally at a residential house. They would be both pictured doing daily household routines, looking normal and in the course of status quo, but as the reel progresses, one could outline the seemingly intentional disregard of Aguilera's presence. As it goes in the long run, scenes with Chrissy singing the song being addressed to him gets intense, although she was still left unnoticed. Then the video will develop to a shower scene of her husband as she stands outside the shower curtain singing. The man finished his bath with a towel draped around his hips, passes about her without acknowledgment. On the threshold of the bathroom door he's crossing, an object was thrown at the side of his head by Chrissy who's at his back, nearly colliding with his head. The camera would then pan the view in an 180-degree continuous shoot in the adjacent broken mirror, reflecting his image and whole view behind him. Chrissy was nowhere to be found on the mirror's reflection and past events begin to flashback instantly: Aguilera committed suicide by blowing her head with the gun, interpolating earlier scenes with her image slowly fading out in each one of them. Turned out Chrissy is already dead which explains why she's constantly ignored by her husband previously and is haunting her estranged husband that caused her deliberated demise. the ending ought to have him walking towards her grave while she compassionately follows behind, adorned with a special effects indicating she's only a spirit.
Enrique Iglesias - I Like It
- Same place, same partayyy as int he original but I'd like to insert a brief story. I would like to place a huge television set in the living room as well, the movie 'Some Like It Hot' on the screen playing. Same ol, same ol dancing, then Enrique notices a beautiful gorl getting down on the dancefloor. It didn't take long before he found himself pursuing the gorl. The ho is a tease and Enrique invited her to fled away somewhere for the night. At the porch on the way making their escape, the gorl stopped, agitated, said to him: “You don't understand, Enrique! Aaah…I'm a man!” Enrique, stunned and confused, immediately regains composure and replied: “Well, nobody's perfect.” The end. (The lines were extracted from the movie Some Like It Hot. It's like a fractional parody of the movie.).
P!nk - Glitter In The Air
- I want to gather all the natural cliches people exaggerate (like the euphoria of witnessing the sunrise.. etc.) and situate P!nk on the other side that people have never seen/experience. Turn your back to the sun and watch the world slowly being illuminated by the sun behind, kiss your loved one with eyes open... etc.. Simply transcending the usual and inverting the casual.
Natasha Bedingfield - Touch
- A series of interconnecting happenings provoked by separate individuals. It appears as a visual presentation of 'everything happens for a reason' and everyone contributes a small part of anyone's victory/agony. Natasha would be in the last sequence of the segment.
Muse - The Resistance
- I want the gist of the whole novel '1984' be compacted into a 7-minute music video for this song! That would be epic and of course, I would appear as one of the Thought Police.
Britney Spears - Someday (I Will Understand)
- 1920's. Prevalent racism and unjust prejudices. Britney Spears as a white American, victim of racism in a colonial Black community. She would be walking the shoes of an African-American woman in the midst of an unfair taunting judgment. It's a way of a humanitarian movement to abolish racism in a reverse psychology form.
@LBOE: yes it was done in Trouble, but this time I want all the action to be in the closed space of the bar, with many comedic elements of bar-fights that we have seen in the movies.
@Lark: so much creativity and intelligence oozing just from that one post. From your list I would point out You Lost Me and Resistance.
You Lost Me idea is epic...they could have done so much with that video and came up with simplistic crap. Your idea of Christina committing a suicide is great.
and Resistance: Incorporating the parts of 1984 would make it very enjoyable for me, as I think the book is brilliant. Its obvious that The Muse are basing many of their songs on Orwell's ideas, so why not make a music video which would maybe incorporate some notable moments from 1984?
I have given a thought about this video and below is how it's summed up:
Quote:
For this video, Rihanna will be playing the role of a firefighter - the hottest one you've ever seen. It started with Rihanna gazing through her window in tears in a dark moody scene. Her curly hair is gracefully messy and you can clearly see her pictures with her ex( let's name him Marco) all scattered all over the floor, with some of them burnt to ashes near a metal bin.
Quote:
Then, her alarm clock rings. However, there's rewind of sequential scenes throughout the night that portray that Rihanna never goes to bed that night. She set the alarm clock on just to deny her miseries and sorrow; and just to feel normal again. Then she goes to the shower - nude. The camera is taking a sneak peek behind the shower curtain just to reveal that she's crying under the pouring water, silently.
Quote:
Then, she moves out of the bathroom -nude again and the camera follows her wet footsteps on the porcelain-like floor. At times, the colorless tone of the water changes to red, resembling blood - to reflect her insecurity and desires to end that torment she's in.
Quote:
She drives her Suzuki M90 Boulevard out of the garage heading for the fire department she's working at. Again, certain things that she glances at look like it's on fire. To stop all the distracting images inside her head, she accelerates her bike and the speedometer shows 150 KM/H. A few civilians nearby the road are surprised to discover it is a girl driving that amazing bike.
Quote:
The moment she arrives at the fire department, the siren is ringing, loudly. Collectedly, she runs towards the locker room changing her attire - a couple pair of eyes is peeping at her - and quickly jump on the fire truck. To her surprise, the house on fire is Marco's house. By the time the truck arrives at the house, half of it has been turned to ashes.
Quote:
She knows Marco lives all by himself with his dog. His car is still inside the garage, almost set on fire. The neighborhood is utterly shocked to witness the house burning, since Marco is a really nice person. Several of them claim that Marco is still trapped inside the house. That heart-crippling news reaches her ears and she tries to force her way into the house. However, her colleagues stop her and insist that if he's still in there, he'd have been dead since the fire is getting out of hand.
Quote:
She then tells her colleagues that she understands the situation and promises that she won't do anything ridiculous. While the others are busy fighting the monstrous flame, she takes a slow walk (in slow motion) into the house and let herself be engulfed by the unstoppable fire. She still loves Marco but he occasionally uses violence to solve their personal problems. That is the reason why she decides to give both of them some time - hence that break-up - to think it over; and her love never changes during that period.
Quote:
In a few hours, the fire is successfully put off. The fire fighters are buzzing with fear since they can't find Rihanna anywhere. Suddenly, a car stopped in front of the hill of ashes. There are two good-looking men inside the car. One of the men comes out of the car and take off his shade out of intense surprise to what he's seeing at the moment. It's Marco. He can't believe it at all.
Quote:
Strangely, he feels something inside of him is missing and all he thinks of at that time is Rihanna. Instinctively, he walks slowly towards the bunch of ashes and find a ruby necklace lying beside his bedroom( although the house is gone, he knows where his bedroom is situated on the land). He cries while punching his chest in agony.
Quote:
Yes, Rihanna goes inside the house because she wants to be together with him in the afterworld not knowing he's still alive.
Quote:
The climax of the video is when Rihanna's soul dressing as an angel is circling Marco who is in tears. Although she dies alone, she's seen smiling sheepishly coz after all....................................he's still ALIVE.
@Lark: so much creativity and intelligence oozing just from that one post. From your list I would point out You Lost Me and Resistance.

Thanks for appreciating!
Yeah, I was really disappointed with the actual YLM video. After too much effort on the execution for NMT, they really went down the hill for it. It's not bad but not so appeasing for the song as well.
I actually label 'Resistance' (album) as the soundtrack to 1984. The tracklisting of the songs precisely follows the draft of consequences of the legendary book. Surprised they haven't gone as far as making it apparent in their music videos as well, as far as the 1984 influence is concerned.
It starts with the instrumental of the song. It's kinda black and white/pale-ish in color. Rihanna is seen laying in the roof with some bunch of papers, a photo album, and some other stuff. "March 10, 2029" shows at the bottom of the screen. Fast flashbacks will appear. Then Rihanna starts singing the song.
Quote:
On my roof
Dark and I'm burning a rose
I don't need proof
I'm torn apart and numb
What you did to me was a crime
Cold Case Love
And I let you reach me one more time
But that's enough
She is alone and crying. She starts to grab a newspaper, and the newspaper was from March 9, 2009. The headline was "Domestic Violence affects a celebrity" (with her picture in it). She keeps on singing emotionally as fast flashbacks come back.
Quote:
Your love was breaking the law
But I needed a witness
So pick me up when it's over
It don't make any difference
Will it ever be solved
Or am I taking the fall
Truth was there all along
Tell me how did we miss it
The video fades into white and it takes her memories back to February 8, 2009. She is seen fighting with a guy. Due to the intense battle between the two, the guy attacked Rihanna and led to bruises and pain. She became unconscious. The video faded into white and returned to the present situation. She continues on crying remembering the incident she had been to.
Quote:
We opened up a cold case love
And it got the best of us
And now prints, pictures & white outlines
Are all that's left at the scene of a crime
Of a cold case love
She opens the photo album. The photo album was full of pictures of her and the guy earlier. Tears were falling down the photo album. Since she can't handle it anymore, she closed her eyes as she threw the photo album away.
Quote:
Should've investigated
But love blinded eyes
Couldn't see (no)
And then I tried to cage it
But your love ain't the kind you can keep
Release me now cause I did my time
Of this cold case love
My heart's no longer cold & confined
I've had enough
As she closed her eyes, her mind went through another flashback. It was her and that guy again. She remembered those moments before the fight. Rihanna finds herself struggling with the relationship and she keeps on finding ways to get out of it. But then, the guy wouldn't let her break up with him for reasons Rihanna wanted to know. Rihanna confronted the guy, and then, the guy started shouting at her, and the flashback stopped. Rihanna came down from the roof to go to a certain place.

It don't make any difference

She is seen walking here, crying, to a certain place. While she is walking, vivid memories appears on the sides of the screen. As she remembers them, she keeps on crying harder - thinking that how could she waste her love to someone who doesn't deserve it. As she arrives on the place (a park where the pair spent their time together when they were still together), she sat on a bench and watch people go by. Then she kept on having flashbacks.
Quote:
We lost our way
Took this too far
Now I'll never find the pieces of my heart
We've lost enough
Looking for a truth
That was here all along
Flashback: She is seen laying on a hospital bed with a TV in front of her. She was watching the news and seeing the guy on TV made her cry. She sings emotionally on this part and faster random flashbacks came in.
Quote:
Cold case love
And it got the best of us
and now prints, pictures & white outlines
Are all that's left at the scene of a crime
Of a cold case love
Then the flashback turned into a court room. Rihanna was defending herself as the guy is being judged. Rihanna is seen talking to the guy (with the lyrics of the song) emotionally, and the guy has nothing left to do. The guy was sentenced for 19 years.
As the long instrumental continues, it shows a whole flashback of the video as Rihanna is walking in some random place. At the end of the video, a person taps Rihanna from the back. Rihanna leans back, and the video cuts. The guy who tapped Rihanna was the guy who she felt in love with.
