It's not correct to simply double an album's sales. We have to factor in that much of those album sales came from old records being released in CD format for the first time. Also, once a flop, always a flop. There aren't twice as many suckers buying the ****** albums; there are fewer people buying the big hits. If you look at the drop from the top-selling album of 2000 to now, it goes from over 10 million to about 3 million. That's a 70% drop!
obviously its decreasing... no one buys CDs anymore and no one buys albums on iTunes.... everyone just illegally downloads them... Or uses that Youtube to MP3 converter.

however, there is still music quality but that doesn't get any attention, this is doomed..
Today I was watching Vh1 Pop top 10 and 7 of those 10 were stupid generic party songs with the same beats the other 3 were Just The Way You Are, Teenage Dream and Love The Way You Lie

I do this
But I buy some albums that I really love
I Am...Sasha Fierce would be at exactly 4,638,000.
Dangerously In Love would be at 7,429,000.
B'Day would be at 5,083,000.
but albums sales hadn't fallen by 50 percent in 2003.

half the albums people are adjusting sales for weren't released this year, they have only declined 53% as of this year, in 2009 i( just a guess ) it could of been like 48% and in 2008 maybe 43% and so on.
Oops would have sold 3 million copies in its first week if it were released in 1980.....
Nah, the music market in 1980 was very similar to the market now, very singles driven. The mega-selling albums didn't really come until after Thriller. 2000-2001 was the best time for album sales according to Soundscan.
I can't say I feel sorry for industry execs. They largely brought this upon themselves.
