Beyonce's voice is amazing but her tone is completely generic. Yes she's never had a technically bad performance but her voice is soulless. She could never cover Hero IMO. lol

I don't know about her voice being generic and soulless, I've always hated when people say that she's far from it, but I digress I can't see her singing Hero...Well I can just not how I'm accustomed, but then again Mariah can't even sing it like I'm accustomed.

Well the idea of a generic tone is unheard of. A tone can be rich, bright, resonant, thin, dark. I don't know what you mean by a generic tone.
Anyway. Cadillac records soundtrack - plenty of soul on there IMO. Resentment (I Am Yours) is probably one of the most soulful performances she's done. Certainly far from soulless.

Interesting. I would actually say that Mariah is a more technically proficient singer, but Beyonce performs with a lot more emotion and feeling.

But,comparing my fav with the other "artists" now,my fav has a wondeful and an amazing voice (along with Beyonce though)
