Only Girl is not more European Pop than Poker Face was...... Poker Face became a huge hit here so Rihanna is doing nothing new.

"Only Girl" is clearly Euro Dance. Very similar to romanian dance music, especially Inna.
Yeah, it's Euro dance. And what's the craze right now? What are even the male hip hop artists all doing? It's an OK, pretty generic Euro dance kinda song, like everything else on the radio.

Well, I wasn't trying to say that Ke$ha's magic with Dr. Luke was greater than Gaga's magic with RedOne. Obviously, both of those artists have amazing chemistry with their respective producers, and certainly Ke$ha's path to success was made easier by artists like Gaga who came through and popularized this breed of dancey pop music that is dominating right now.
My only point was that I commend Rihanna for not seeking out Dr. Luke (like Katy following Ke$ha's success) or hunting down RedOne (who's profile went up ten fold after his success with Gaga) and asking them to create one of their formulaic hits for her. Only Girl is on trend with the house music influences that are popular right now, but I don't think it sounds stale either.
I wouldn't commend her for that, it's not like what she's doing is any better. She's working with David Guetta, a producer she knows is going to give her a hit single because he's hot right now. She's following the pack, OG is very generic IMO.
This quote is misunderstood. What she's saying is that she doesn't want to do the same music that Katy, Ke$ha or Gaga could do. They already exist in this pop market, so why should she copy them? She wants to be an original. There's no shade meant, especially because she's good friends with two of these girls!

I think Rihanna's comment comes across shadily and is poorly worded, but I don't think it was her intent to belittle the work of her peers. She has friendships with both Katy and Ke$ha, and I do believe she has given Gaga numerous praises in the past. I think there's a certain level of mutual respect that most of these girls share for each other.

Well she did and when has Rihanna ever been one to follow trends? Umbrella started the whole repetition thing. While Rated R went the Dark & Dubstep route.
