Music News: Taylor Swift to launch 3-Week Countdown for Speak Now!

Taylor Swift’s highly-anticipated album, Speak Now, will be released worldwide on October 25th, and each week a new track from the Big Machine Records album will be available for purchase exclusively on the iTunes Store for the three weeks leading up to the album release.

In addition, each song will also be available in advance as an exclusive 30-second preview, along with a brief interview with Taylor, each week on Comcast On Demand, online at XfinityTv.com, and on E! News Daily.

The iTunes / Comcast countdown pre-release tracks and previews are scheduled to launch as follows:

October 4 & 5: “Speak Now” October 4th: 12:01 a.m. - preview and interview available on Comcast on Demand and XfinityTv.com. Clip and interview featured on E! News that evening. October 5th:12:01 a.m. - “Speak Now” available for purchase at iTunes.com

October 11 & 12: “Back To December” October 11th: 12:01 a.m. - preview and interview available on Comcast on Demand and XfinityTv.com. Clip and interview featured on E! News that evening. October 12th: 12:01 a.m. - “Back To December” available for purchase at iTunes.com October 18 & 19: “Mean” October 18th: 12:01 a.m. - preview and interview available on Comcast on Demand and XfinityTv.com. Clip and interview featured on E! News that evening October 19th: 12:01 a.m. - “Mean” available for purchase at iTunes.com

In addition, Comcast On Demand and XfinityTv.com, will offer a 30-second preview of “Story of Us” beginning at 12:01 a.m. October 22nd. The clip will also be featured that weekend on E! News.

Speak Now contains 14 tracks, all written solely by Taylor, who co-produced the project with Nathan Chapman. The first single from the album, “Mine,” was released last month and reached the top of the iTunes charts in less than 6 hours. “Mine” is currently Top 10 at Country Radio, and at #12 on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 chart. The video is #1 at CMT, GAC and VH1, and Top 5 at MTV.

Last week, Taylor joined Kris Kristofferson, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill and Lionel Richie in Los Angeles for an All For The Hall Guitar Pull to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. CNN had this to say about her performance: “As for Swift, she more than held her own with this bunch of veteran singer/songwriters two and three times her age. The acoustic setting showcased the intimate nature of her songwriting, and her voice sounded strong against the quiet backdrop...The performance for the Country Music Hall of Fame proved she had every right to share the spotlight with such icons as Kristofferson, Gill, Harris and Richie. Taylor, who was just named Billboard’s top-ranking “Hottest Music Star Under 21,” is currently in Milan for a performance this week on X Factor Italy. She travels to Paris later in the week for a gala celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Roberto Cavalli fashion house.

Countdown singles are an excellent way to possibly increase first week sales & even longetivity. Fearless, Tha Carter III & The E.N.D. all had countdowns & those albums were super successful.

I'm very excited. I'm debating whether to buy Speak Now or not, so these songs will be my indicator

Taylor is pretty much Queen of iTunes. Even her fart released would go top 5 (If not number one)

I still remember pissed fans wanting to burn her amazing perm, cause she burned them charts in an instant.
