Shontelle is self-made compared to Rihanna who was scooped right up by a major label because she is pretty and then manufactured into a star. Her image is 100% put together by some guys in suits that want to make money from her. Shontelle, however, is an artist. She was originally signed to be a songwriter, not a money machine. "Flop" or not, she's more talented than Rihanna.

I love Rihanna. I'm just being objective. Every music fan knows their favorite artists' shortcomings, but some people think it's betrayal to just be objective and admit them. On one hand, Rihanna is more successful than Shontelle. But on the other hand, Rihanna herself doesn't have much to do with that. It's the people that put her together that make her appear larger than life. More smoke and mirrors =/= more talent.

Also, you can't cry "pressed" when members of Rihanna's stanbase threw the first stone. Shontelle fans are just defending her. If person A throws shade at an artist, and person B throws shade back at theirs, who looks more pressed? The person that started it.

I don't get why people here call other artists 'lessor' or whatever if they are less successful and popular than their fave is.

I think that every artist is unique in his own way, and not everybody can be as much as successful as the others. But that doesn't make them any less better. I think that Shontelle is very talented, and because she isn't as popular as Rihanna or doesn't have a #1 single, doesn't make her less better than Rihanna is.
