^ Yeah, but the list prices for albums are RIDICULOUS! I mean, who would honestly pay 18.99 for a CD? I sure as hell wouldn't, EVEN if I love the artist. When the music is CHEAPER, I buy it more often. Say, for example, The Fame Monster, which is reasonably priced at 7.99 a lot of the time on Amazon. I gifted that album over the past year around 5 times.

Well, it's always lasted a while in Target stores around her. First week and beyond they are really low, then when they become considerably old they are priced up.

The only time I see CD prices $17.99 and upwards are in the mall stores such as Borders.

Yeah, the prices in the bookstores like Borders tend to be like, ridiculously high. But then again, I guess there is no real way to predict these things. Like, when I got Charice's album after I saw her live, it was like 15.99 at Best Buy.

All I know is that I personally am more inclined to buy cheaper music. Now, not everyone shares that sentiment...but I think many do.

Count me among those many. I don't think lowering prices is a guaranteed fix, but digital single sales are booming, so people ARE willing to spend money on music. If album prices were lower, I feel like a lot of people would step up and purchase the entire package rather than cherry-picking a few songs here and there.

Look, here in Brazil, If a CD is Smashing, They Put it Highest they Can, but if it's floppin' or Old , It's Cheaper As hell
Ex: TFM Deluxe was For Like, 27 Dollar's In February/January, Yeah, Albuns are expensive here, The Standart Version of TD here it's like 16 ~ 18 Dollars
And When They Got "Cheaper", They are for 6 ~ 7 Dollars, and The Worst Part, is that we usually don't get The Deluxe Version :-/
But One Day this was Going to Happen In the USA, With the Digital Era, Illegal Downloads And All, But i still prefer the Physical albuns, They are the best

I honestly think that if albums were at 5$ then nobody would even bother in spending +1$ in a single.... and everyone would buy the album. (thats the double edge)

But at this point where you can download ANYTHING from the internet 100% free..... there´s no point on spending 18 € like I´ve seen in malls (18€ are 24 dollars......)

Its ridiculous....

Artists should give their music for free and win their money with tour... If an artist is successful, no matter how many albums they sell, they will outsell every venue they play in. And thats where they really show their artistry.

BTW you're kinda acting USA's music industry is the only one. Yes it's the biggest, but not the only one. Brazil, Finland, Norway and South Korea all increased album sales. There's still hope.

(Not for the US though)
