I love Teenage Dream, but come on.
Peacock, Last Friday Night, Cali Girls, Circle the Drain, ET.
They dont make you think.
They have horrible cheasy lyrics.
I love that she thinks she's an "honest storyteller." Two out of the first three singles from this album are not "honest stories"! I love the girl, but she needs to admit that she just makes good-ass pop songs.
Cali Gurls isn't a story and Katy has said that Cali Gurls wasn't anything new or groundbreaking; she knows that Cali Gurls is just a 'good-ass' pop song.
Teenage Dream, Circle the Drain, ET, Pearl, Not Like The Movies, Last Friday Night are stories of her life; stuff that she did when she was younger. Katy probably went skinny-dipping and might've had a menage 'a trois and had a boyfriend who preferred drugs to foreplay.
I love her style of songwriting and it reflects that she's genuinely having fun. If some people were using their popularity as a platform to impose their advocacy, let it be.
