This might not be heartwarming but... Which natural disasters have you experienced or has affected you or someone you were really close to & loved?
btw. Some might not be realistic to your areas or time... but I figured I mentioned them anyway just in case you did know someone who experienced it, even before your time.

The Christchurch NZ earthquake last weekend. I had family and friends down there and I could feel it from Wellington (300km away)

Here in Australia? Drought, and lots of it. Rain in Melbourne, however, has been very good over the past few months & that doesn't seem to be changing. But we're still in dire straits - our dams are well under 50%.

Wildfires and Earthquakes. We took 1 week off school when SoCal was burning in 2003 and 2007.

Hurricane, Flood, Drought, Hailstorm, Heat Wave, and Tornado.

Hurricane, Flood (small one, but a flood none the less), heat wave and hailstorm (very short one).

Yeah. Miami is a fun place to be when the weather is out of wack -.-

Where I live is boringg as hell and ****, but It's lucky to never experience any natural disasters.

I accidentally voted Earthquakes (keeps on happening )
- Hurricane Charley, Heat Waves (common in NYC), and last years senior class and gym teacher from my HS got the swine flu (no one died but I haven't heard anything from the gym teacher).

I didn't mention power outages since those are usually caused by natural disasters but during the Northeast Blackout in 2003, there was also a heatwave going on so that was like hell those three days without power. And I lost my Grandmother that week.

I would like to say heat wave but then it's just really hot in our country so that's just a natural thing..

Blizzard, Drought, Heatwave (well summers are always hot), Hail. But none of them major.

And a small tornado maybe a mile from my house.

Earthquake.

Several hurricanes, drought.

Earthquakes - in Jordan & Canada (minor, the one in Jordan I was at school and everything started shaking, but in Canada I was in the car so I didn't feel anything)
Blizzard - in Canada (minor, well it happened like once when we couldn't get outside, extremely cold and snow up to the door)
Heat Waves - in Iraq (my family and I have been through days in the summer 50 Celsius = 122 Fahrenheit or more and had no electricity for air conditioning and this would go on for hours and hours so you could imagine)
Tornados - in Canada (minor, a really minor one barely noticeable)
Epidemic (ex. H1N1) - in Canada (minor, had to wear masks during some days to avoid contact)

I had H1N1 last winter, it was really bad because I was already a severe asthmatic, luckily I got through it after a couple weeks in the hospital, it's done permanent damage to my lungs though which is a total bitch but I should just be grateful thing's weren't worse.

Anything else I've been in the middle of has been reasonably minor.

Also, I was only 4 days old when my parents and I went through the Northridge Earthquake. I don't remember it but my Mom remembers it.
