U.S. Radio Summer Songs of 2010
The data is finally in! For each main format in the U.S., these are the top 15 most played songs of the summer!
First up, the AC (adult contemporary) chart.
The AC format is a very slow moving format. Most songs listed were popular on other formats earlier in the year. Some songs were popular last year. Nonetheless, the AC format has 15 fantastic songs in this list. It was an extremely close race, but topping the list is Train's mega smash hit, "Hey, Soul Sister" with 28.6 thousand spins. I'm talking about Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg's mega hit, "California Gurls," with 54.1 thousand spins. Oddly enough, the spin record was broken just a few months before by another song which is also in the top ten below. Coming up in a good second place was the breakout hit of the now wildly successful band, The Script, with their hit, "Breakeven," with 46.4 thousand spins. For the third position, it was a great battle, but Train ended up winning it with their second single, "If It's Love," with 44.7 thousand plays.

Speaking of rock, let's check out how the rock formats did this summer.
First up, let's check out the Mainstream Rock format. This summer deemed us the comeback of rock legend, Ozzy Osbourne, and it's not surprise his comeback single, "Let Me Hear You Scream," comes out on top this year with 5.1 thousand plays. Coming in second is Shinedown's wildly popular hit, "The Crow and the Butterfly" with 4.7 thousand plays. They came back this year in the middle of June and the song exploded so much so fast, landing it at number one. Of course I'm talking about Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare," with 21.8 thousand plays. Had summer been one week longer, second place would be going to another comeback single, but alas, second place goes to Five Finger Death Punch's "Bad Company," with 20.5 thousand plays. In third place was Disturbed's comeback smash hit, "Another Way to Die," with 20.4 thousand plays.

Coming in second is Cage the Elephant's "In One Ear," with 20.3 thousand plays. Third place was pretty far away this year. Almost a complete 3,000 spin difference! Third place goes to 30 Seconds to Mars' "This Is War," with 17.6 thousand plays.

A little surprised Dirty Heads topped....I thought Muse would be much higher on here too, and even Three Days Grace. Well-deserved for Avenged Sevenfold.
And Train easily deserved #1 on AC, Lady Antebellum would be a great choice too. Solid Hot AC Top 15 listed, my least favorite however is the Katy Perry song and I like Sara's the most.

I'm just now getting into that partic. Miranda song. LOL. I like Carrie's the most and I'll say Currington's I like the least. Very solid list IMO and I think, the best list (the Country one) overall next to the Alternative one.

First, we'll check out the Rhythmic format. For a second year in a row, Drake tops the list with his successful hit, "Find Your Love," with 74.4 thousand plays. In second place was newcomer rapper, B.o.B with Paramore lead vocalist, Hayley Williams and their huge smash hit, "Airplanes," with 66.9 thousand plays. In third is the return of Usher. He went from huge smash, to under the radar, and now he's back smashing the charts again. In third is his single, "OMG," which features The Black Eyed Peas' lead vocalist, will.i.am, with 58.6 thousand plays.
