Women empowerment. Women are less stereotyped than ever here in our country which is a good thing. I hope it goes the same for homosexuals.

Standing up against double standards and gender inequalities

I think female empowerment is too simplistic of a definition. Feminism is about having a world view that regards women with the same respect as men and strives to achieve equal treatment, social standing and political/economic power for them as well. In this way, it is about changing society throughout more progressive opinions and perceptions. And in this way, men can be feminists too. I, for one, would consider myself a feminist because of this.

omg so I'm taking a women's studies class and they asked us about this but for me feminism is nothing more than women trying to better themselves and ending all the many stereotypes that have been given to them

When I think of feminists, I think of the women who want to be treated totally equal... yet they still expect men to pay for their dinners, open their doors, propose to THEM, and they'd never want to be drafted into the military. Seems kind of hypocritical.

But I know not all feminists are like that. Just the ones I've come across. But yes, it should be about female empowerment. *nods*
