Pedro's Review on Teenage Dream
1. Teenage Dream - 10/10
This song is just beautiful, it's totally what a teenage dream is about, I love Katy vocals on this and the emotion she puts in the song. Lyrically this is awesome as well. I can't wait to see this live in concert, and I wasn't expecting this to be the song it's I expected something more dancy but this is perfection.
2. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) - 10/10
What a great and happy song. Once again the lyrics are amazing and this song is so party-friendly, I love the chorus, so catchy, the "think we kissed but I forgot" and the "then had a manage à trois" is just awesome. The only less good part is when that annoying instrument plays so loud that my ears hurt a bit.
3. California Gurls - 10/10
Summer-Anthem. This song is perfect and makes me feel fresher, I don't usually memorize the rapper part but this one even that is great and I know it. It's funny because I sing it with my sister, so when it comes the "Katy, My Lady" my sis goes like "YEAAAAA?" and I "Looking over here baby?" and she goes "AH AH". This song is just amazing and summer-ish, probably one of my fave summer songs ever.
4. Firework - 10/10
When I first heard this song, I was kinda disappointed this to become a single, I was like, why the hell is this gonna become a single? But now I love it and I'm happy that it's gonna become one! The song is magical and empowering, it gives you power to be strong and be the best ahahaha. Katy is the real firework. The happiness behind this song is lovely!
5. Peacock - 10/10
This song is the "Hot 'N Cold" of this album in my opinion, it's happy and dancy. The lyrics are so great, I usually love this "hidden lyrics" it reminds me of "If U Seek Amy", I love how she says "You have the greatest architecture" LOL and the best part is that my sis has no idea of what "****" means so she goes like "I WANNA SEE YOUR PEACOCK **** ****"
6. Circle The Drain - 10/10
Definitely, one of the best tracks on the album. The darkness behind this is misterious and the lyrics are perfect, Katy's vocals are really great on this. It also has rock mixed in and I love pop singers singing rock stuff, it just fits their voices so well. This is catchy as hell!
7. The One That Got Away - 10/10
Is this the sweetest song on the album? The instrumental is so sweet and lovely and I love Katy's sweet voice. I seriously don't know who left this beautiful woman, but he must be regretting now! The emotion in this song is touching and beautiful.
8. E.T.
This gotta be my FAVORITE song on "Teenage Dream". Besides the amazing electronic instrumental, the lyrics are one of the best I've ever seen. And I loved the little interview with Katy explaining the meaning of this song. This has something that reminds me of "All The Things She Said" but IMO it's so much better.
9. Who Am I Living For? - 10/10
This song, just like "Circle The Drain" has also something dark and misterious attatched to it and I love misterious songs. I love the chorus, love Katy's vocals on it.
10. Pearl - 10/10
This is kind of Katy's "Unusual You" (type of beat talking), I love this song, it's sweet and not fully sad, but deep. It also reminds me of "Girl In The Mirror" by Britney Spears, lyrically, because in the end they both admit they are the girl who they are talking. Love This.
11. Hummingbird Heartbeat - 10/10
Just like "E.T." this might be my favorite as well. The lyrics are EPIC and I love this kinda rock songs, it reminds me of something that could be on "One Of The Boys" but totally the new and besides all this, the song is so catchy. The part "Even if the season changes our love still stays the same" gives me chills, beautiful song, this gives me so much power . The taste of Katy's honey is damn sweet.
12. Not Like The Movies - 10/10
The ONLY REAL ballad on the album, a friend of mine told me it was kind of a mixing of "Lost" and "I'm Still Breathing" at first I didn't exactly find the similarities but I do find now, and I believe that's right. The lyrics are beautiful and the song is damn sentimental, in sad days this would make me cry.
FINAL: 10/10
I gave 10 to every song? Predictable, I really love this CD, it's perfect, maybe better than "One Of The Boys". I felt Katy was more herself in this album and I loved it. Seriously Im gonna become a stan. . Can't wait to see her live again!
TOP 5 FAVORITE SONGS
1. Hummingbird Heartbeat
2. E.T.
3. Circle The Drain

Just curious. I have no idea why I'm not feelin' the album and I wanted to see what the critics through. Perhaps they'd offer a suggestion why I'm disappointed with it overall.
Sure, there's 3 hits I enjoy, but not much else.

^ some of the songs are growers, and they get better with each listen. You should try listening to it a few more times. I listen to the album almost everyday and never get tired

the album is getting mixed to favorable reviews
Entertainment Weekly B-
Beneath the fruity outfits and fart jokes, Perry is clearly serious about the business of hit songcraft; that doesn't make Dream nearly cohesive as an album, but it does provide, intermittently, exactly the kind of high-fructose rush she's aiming for.

Spin 3/5
Perry delivers the gurl-gone-wild stuff with requisite sass, but she actually sounds more engaged on "Not Like the Movies" and "One That Got Away"--quieter cuts that recall her singer-songwriter days at L.A.'s Hotel Cafe.

USA Today 3/4
By not being afraid to open her heart, Perry suggests that she has a lot more to offer than a wink and a prod.

MTV
...Teenage Dream is not about the sum of its parts. It's about the parts themselves — the gloriously shiny, studio-honed guided missiles hell-bent on hammering radio. And in that regard, Dream is one of great pop albums of recent times. It is purposeful in its precision. So perhaps the best thing you can say about it (and certainly the most fair assessment of its charms) is that it's not a particularly solid album, but it's one heck of a greatest-hits collection.

T.H.I.S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's only 2 reviews for now, Chan. they will post all the reviews in..almost 20 hours.
10 bucks says it will be critically panned. You know there's trouble when Entertainment weekly gives you 67 out of 100 :S

Almost every review I've read compares "Teenage Dream" to "Animal"
California Gurls = Tik Tok
The One That Got Away = Hungover (I don't know if I quite feel this, but I saw it mentioned before)
Teenage Dream = Animal (slow verses, upbeat chorus)
E.T. = Kiss 'n' Tell (same noise thing in the background)
T.G.I.F. & Peacock just sound like something Ke$ha would do
No wonder I love this album so much. It's a clone of my other favorite album this year Kidding... I hate comparisons and I don't even think they're that alike (besides CG & TT)
Edit: I guess you could compare Peacock to Dinosaur too
