Taylor Swift "Mine" debuts at #3 on Hot 100 with 297k
Quote:
Taylor Swift becomes the second female artist in the history of the Hot 100 to debut multiple tracks in the top five during a calendar year, as "Mine" will enter the chart at No. 3 once the final ranking is released tomorrow morning (Aug. 12).
"Mine" falls just shy of the debut and peak of "Today Was a Fairytale," which landed in the runner-up spot on the chart dated February 6. Mariah Carey is the only other female with multiple top five debuts in a single year, opening at No. 1 with both "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day," with Boyz II Men, in 1995.
Eminem, who holds at No. 1 for a fourth week with "Love they Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna, has also placed a couple of top five debuts on the Hot 100 this year as "Lie" opened at No. 2 and "Not Afraid" started in the No. 1 slot on the May 22 chart. With those entries, he became the first male artist to ever post a pair of top two debuts, regardless of time frame.
"Mine," the first single from Swift's forthcoming album "Speak Now," opens at No. 1 on Digital Songs with 297,000 downloads in a partial sales week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, as it was released on Wednesday, Aug. 4, two-and-a-half days into the tracking period. Swift's best debut sales week came courtesy of "Today Was a Fairytale," which opened this February with 325,000. She posted her highest sales frame when "Love Story" shifted 360,000 downloads in the post-Christmas week of 2008.
On the airplay side, "Mine" starts at No. 53 on Radio Songs with 23.9 million listener impressions, according to Nielsen BDS, with roughly 60% of that audience coming from country radio airplay and the rest from top 40 and adult outlets. On the Country Songs tally, "Mine" starts its chart life at a lofty No. 26.
Elsewhere in the top 10, Taio Cruz's "Dynamite" hits a new high, as it climbs 3-2 as the chart's Airplay Gainer. The track rises 8-5 on Radio Songs with 103.1 million listener impressions (up 22%).
Katy Perry falls two spots with each of her top 10 entries as "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg, dips 2-4 and "Teenage Dream" drops 7-9. The latter song's fall is due to a decline in digital sales (down 19.8%) after two straight weeks of strong growth. With airplay up 35% (39-26 on Radio Songs), the track should rebound and remain a top 10 contender for some time. Meanwhile, Perry plates a debut on the list, as "Not Like The Movies" opens at No. 53, while premiering at No. 22 on Digital Songs with 57,000.
Enrique Iglesias, with Pitbull, holds at No. 5 with "I Like It," and B.o.B. descends 4-6 with "Airplanes," featuring Hayley Williams. Dropping one spot to No. 7 is Mike Posner's "Cooler than Me."
Closing out the list of top 10 entries are Usher, featuring Pitbull, with "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" (9-8), and Jason Derulo's "Ridin' Solo" (11-10). Derulo's track had spent five prior weeks in the top 10, peaking at No. 9, before slipping to No. 11 last week.
Kenny Chesney make a huge leap on the list, rising 96-18 as first-week downloads (82,000) drive the song's upward surge (No. 14 debut on Digital Songs). Chesney betters his own record for largest opening-week downloads by a male country artist previously set with "Out Last Night" (71,000) in June 2009. "Out Last Night" still stands at his best Hot 100 showing, having peaked at No. 16.
Linkin Park makes a strong entry onto the Hot 100 at No. 35 with "The Catalyst." In addition to its fast start at radio, the song opens with 60,000 downloads, placing it at No. 20 on Digital Songs and No. 1 on Rock Digital Songs.

I really thought this was going to sell as good as (...)Fairytale, It's her first single (from 3rd album) and it's by MILES better than TWAF...
Anyway, I know Taylor won't disappoint me when her album drops
Her AI for first week is great tho...

Another Top 10 for the Princess of Country.
If this had a full week of downloads it could have easily debuted #2 maybe even #1.

It's not fair to compare, "Mine" didn't have a full week of sales like to TWAF.

If this song had gotten six or seven days of sales first week, I think it easily could've crossed 400K. More than TWAF.
Her AI is increasing amazingly fast.
