Gay marriage: What's your opinion about that?
Well, here in Brazil that subject always generate a big discussion and, after Argentina has legalized it, people started to talk more and claim for a legalization here too. So, since there are a lot of gays here I was wondering what do you guys think about that? Does your country allow gay marriage? Let's discuss!

Well as you probably know Gay marriage is allowed again here in California but unfortunately it isnt allowed in all 50 states, but were progressing one state at a time. I use to be against gay marriage until i got my head on straight. Hopefully a lot more ppl will come to realize how treating someone differently based on their sexual preferene is not acceptable.

My state doesn't, but I'm pro same-sex marriage. Even if I wasn't bi I would still support it since I grew up around my lesbian great-aunt when I was younger. She has been in the same relationship my whole life.

I do consider myself to be a somewhat religious person who follows God, so because of that, I have to accept that I cannot engage in homosexual behavior, although I really have no desire to
But anyways, I also believe that other people are entitled to their own happiness and they are free to interpret the word of God however they so choose, and I have no right to tell them otherwise. Gay marriage should be legal, just for the sake of equality and allowing gay couples to enjoy the same love and happiness enjoyed by straight couples. If God sees that as wrong, we are powerless to do anything. But, in my view of a loving God, I think he'll understand people pursuing a love they cannot feel with the opposite gender. I think they can still enter heaven, as long as they remain good people.

I think the big issue about this whole thing is the "marriage" word, because of the whole religious meaning of it. I don't even think that gay couples want to get married. I think most of them just want to be recognized by law as a couple and have same rights a straight couple has.

I'm straight, but with all my heart & with all my love, I support the gay community.
Equality for all. We all have the right to love and be loved. Love will always win.

Personally I believe gay marriage isn't real any different to straight marriage. Although being gay myself I suppose I'm a bit biased, but the way I see it is that we can't choose the way we are and how we feel, so equality should just be accepted. I'd like to think gay marriage would eventually be accepted everywhere by the majority but i'm not hopeful, especially not in my lifetime. However for me knowing there are people out there who are religous yet can still accept gays is acceptance enough for me. It shows peoples thoughts are changing and things are becoming far more equal than they were

my country, Portugal is a very catholic conservative country and it allows gay marriage, I am very proud of that. Next step : adoption, I think society isn't ready yet but I really hope that in a few years it starts being allowed (the prime minister already talked about it )

Yeah, it's just love, people shouldn't be forbidden to love who they want and express it in the same way everyone does. If you don't like it, ok, but you need to respect it, they are human beings like everyone else.

It's good to know there are religious people that think gays should have the same rights of the straights, most of them are totally close-minded to this subject.

Yeah, technically marriage is a contract between a man and a woman to produce offspring and pass on their property to them. By this definition gay "marriage" is pointless, not because it's "wrong", but because it's impractical. The idea of what love, sexuality, and marriage are have really been perversed over the past 150 years.
Even most of my moderate Christian friends are fans of civil unions which are supposed to have the same rights that marriage has.

In my opinion, everyone is born equal and everyone should be treated equally.
I don't give a **** about race, sexuality, gender or whatever. Nor do I care about what family you are born into and whether you have tons of money or none. We are all born equals and we should all die equals.
If 2 men or 2 women are in love they should have all the opportunities a Male-Female couple have.

Such a shame at Brazil, being the leading country in South America, we should lead everything
Anyway, I don't think it will come very soon here...

Recently here there was a case of a gay couple that were allowed to adopt a child. I'm not so sure, but I think there are another couples that were also allowed to adopt, but not too many.

Thanks! I do feel embarassed when I see people like the Westboro Baptist turning God's message into hate. I know that God has no hate. Christianity emphasizes the commandment of "Love Thy Neighbor," yet so many people get so self-righteous and caught up in the flaws of the institution that they think they have the power to condemn people. No man has that power.
I really wish there was a better relationship between the Church and homosexuals. Christianity is getting a bad rep as a "series of hate-spewing, overly conservative brainwashing rituals" when that is far from the truth.

Well I'm gay and, while I have no idea if I'll ever get married (or if I'll ever want to), all I really want are equal rights. So of course I support gay marriage. It makes me so sad and so mad to see people misunderstand us and who we are. If only they knew. It's simple really.

Well i'm a favor of gay marriage of course
I'm a gay male myself!
Even if i werent gay i would accept the fact there is gay marriage because everyone should be happy the way they are no matter what they do or what they are! We are all humans! We all makes mistakes, we have our tastes, our likes and dislikes, our feelings and a lot more so!
I dont judge no one for who they are so
