All around the world, hurricanes, typhoons, and Tropical Cyclones are given names to keep track of them.

And will PLENTY, MILLIONS, of names ot there, and mother nature is bound to give a name to ONE CRAZY STORM, ANY name is up for grabs.

This might be a crazy topic to start on ATRL, but it's also an interesting one.

A few celebrities on here have had their names used for Cyclones, Typhoons, and Hurricanes. Of course, they are all the same thing, but they are just called that in different regions. I know we have some Asian and Australian members here, and of course the US members.

I'll just give a few examples.

Hilary Duff
The name Hilary is in use in the Eastern Pacific Basin, and would next be used in 2011. Since Eastern Pacific storms tend to not affect land as likely as Atlantic Storms, the name Hilary will probably stay around longer.

Emily Osment
Her name Emily has been used since 1981, most notably used for Hurricane Emily of the record-breaking 2005 season.

Melissa Joan Hart
Both Melissa AND Joan have been used in the Atlantic. It was used for Hurricane Joan in 1988, which struck Central America as a Category 4 Storm. The name was retired after it's use and replaced with Joyce.

In addition, Tropical Storm Melissa formed in 2007, and did not affect land.

Michelle Williams, Michelle Branch, etc
The storm that Melissa would replace was a strong Category 4 storm that struck Cuba and the Bahamas in November 2001. It shares the name with former Destiny's Child star Michelle Williams, singer Michelle Branch, and many other people.

Marilyn Manson and Marilyn Monroe
Michelle was the replacement name of Marilyn. Hurricane Marilyn of 1995 struck the Leeward Islands, and was retired. It shares it's name with Marilyn Monroe and Marilyn Manson. Heck, Marilyn Monroe might have been the person that got the name on the Hurricane Season list. At least until it retired.

Matthew Fox, and other celebs named Matthew
The name Mattew was used for a Tropical Storm in 2004, that struck the Gulf Coast, but did only minor damage. Matthew replaced 1998's Hurricane Mitch. Matthew, being a common name, shares it's name with a bunch of celebs, such as Matthew Fox, Matthew McCoughenahay and others.

In addition, Matty and other Matthews from this site would share that name.

Laura Prepon
Tropical Storm Laura was named for the first time in 2008 (and was also previously used in 1971, before the modern naming lists).
It replaced Hurricane Lili of 2002.
Laura Prepon is an example of a celeb that shares that name.

The name John is used in the Eastern Pacific Basin. The most notable storm was Hurricane John of 1994, which was one of the longest lasting storms in history, lasting 31 days.

The name Alma was retired from the Eastern Pacific Basin in 2008. It's replacement name is Amanda, which is expected to be used in 2014.

HausofNicole
Along with Nicole Richie, Haus of Nicole, has ended up sharing her name with Hurricane Nicole of 1998, and Subtropical Storm Nicole of 2004.

remeese
His real name Alex has been used for Tropical Storm Alex of 1998, Hurricane Alex of 2004 that brushed the Carolinas, and Hurricane Alex of 2010 that affected Mexico.

Personally, if Ryan, Selena, and Tiffany make it onto a list, I'd love it. Some of the names used for Hurricanes and Tropical Storms are pretty bleh.
