Aaliyah will always be the first person to score a number 1 based on Airplay. She cant beat that because her single is already selling well. Even if she did Aaliyah will always be first.

Wow. I thought her peak would be I Kissed A Girl/Hot n' Cold but now she's well on her way to legend status if she keeps this up.

I like Katy, But i don't think tha album is going to do ****. She can can as much iTunes sales and airplay as she wants but i don't even think the album with hit 150,000 first week. & it most definitely won't get 150,001 if she doesn't have another "Thinking Of You" on there,so if she wants my coins, California Gurls and Teenage Dream better be tha shittiest songs on tha album

I was thinking about that a while ago but I think she may be able to past 150k.

If Ke$ha as a brand new artist could get 150K opening week in January with one hit song under her belt, Katy (who is a household name, has two new smashes with this album alone and whose label is doing incredible promo everywhere) can nab 300K.

I love Katy, she deserves this & all the future records she'll break

In her last era she seemed more like a singles artist than an albums artist initially (#9 debut); but "One of the Boys" ended up selling really well.

She is now coming back as an established artist hot off two huge singles. She will easily nab a high debut, and with the resurgence of her old album on iTunes (top 5? who saw that coming?), I think she has a lot of potential for a seriously high debut.


...also Haus_of_Nicole, don't forget that Ke$ha's CD had a massive discount week 1 (I saw it for $6.99-$7.99 at most major retailers), whereas I doubt Katy's will. I want 300k and I hope for it but it seems a bit high IMO.

Certain stanbases always get mad when quality pop stars break records.

i think she'll go a bit over 150,000. By the time the album comes out she'll have a multi-platinum single along with a Teenage Dream's soon-to-be platinum status. Also her last album is set to re-enter the charts based on what her songs from the new album is doing. This album is going to do well.

There is no way Beyoncé,Rihanna and certainly not Britney will break this record in my opinion. Katy is absolutely massive at the moment, much bigger than she was the first time around. Nothing's gonna stop her, and I can see this album opening with maybe 400k worlwide!
