Emma Bunton has revealed the Spice Girls would struggle to hit the big time if they were starting out today - because they could not sing.
Baby Spice said reality shows such as the X Factor had become crucial in giving wannabe pop stars a way into the music industry The 34-year-old mum said she, Scary, Sporty, Posh and Ginger were lacking in the vocal department, despite the group selling 75 million records worldwide.
Emma said: "
We never claimed to be the best singers. We just had an energy and a belief and that can be equally important.
"
But reality TV shows help artists get in the door but afterwards it's work, work."
Emma, who from Sunday will host Five's new search for a performance group Don't Stop Believing, is also negotiating a new ITV deal.
But she said her main aim is to give son Beau, nearly three, a brother or sister with partner Jade Jones.
