Singer-rapper-actor Tyrese Gibson is producing an Asian-American reality show set in Los Angeles’ Koreatown community and inspired by the success of MTV’s controversial sleeper hit, Jersey Shore.
Following an exhaustive search that began with a Craigslist casting call “looking for beautiful Asian-Americans with lively, strong, and unique personalities between the ages of 18 to 30 with equally interesting life stories and perspectives to share”, “Black Ty” has selected eight of the hardest-partying Asian-American twentysomethings in the City of Angels to give Snooki, The Stich, J-Woww and the rest of the well-gelled gang from Seaside Heights, USA a run for their tanning gel.
Meet the eight barflies who have signed up to star in KTown, an envelope-pushing docu-soap presently being shopped to networks: Young Lee, Jennifer Field, Joe Cha, Scarlet Chan, Violet Kim, Peter Le, Steve Kim, and Jasmine Chang.
There’s even a bulked-up doppleganger for The Situation.
“The pilot episode was shot over the weekend at BCD, Bohemians, and BoBo’s in Koreatown. From what we hear, there was drinking and drama on the set,” spywitnesses snitch.
No word yet on a possible premiere date for KTown.
In the meantime, the original Jersey Shore returns for a second season of sand, sex, and bar brawls on MTV July 28 @ 10PM.
