It can definitely be considered a promotional single since the music video was never sent to TV stations and most radio stations never even spun the song. Why wouldn't any of the big stations spin a new Rihanna song to test public reaction? I also read on the label that was sent to radio it read: "Rihanna - ROCKSTAR 101 FT. Slash Clean Edit Album Version Promo Only"
Videos don't get "sent" to TV anymore...and most radio stations didn't spin it because it was flopping and wasn't getting support, adds date 6/1/2010. It was official single. So what it flopped, no need for excuses. She's still moving on obviously.

Umm yes they do. They have to be sent to music stations in order for them to play them. Simply ask the owner of MTV Jams and he will tell you that Def Jam never sent the music video to television. And the whole, "radios didn't spin because it was flopping" doesn't make sense. Nobody's making excuses. I'm just giving obvious reasons and facts, why it can be considered a promotional single.
Oh, you can consider whatever you want It was 4th single. If it were a smash single, you'd be saying otherwise. Just enjoy the success she's getting now..

It was an official single and flopped horribly. Just deal with it.
Well, even if the song doesn't go #1 this week, it for sure will be going #1 next week. So congrats to Eminem & Rihanna for slaying the charts like they usually do

Boo, my radio station's website had that song advertised as new music and they were holding a poll with a bunch of other new songs... 63% of people hated it and didn't want it played so they didn't play it. I'm sure a lot of other stations got negative feedback. Just accept that Rockstar flopped. Even with an American Idol performance AND right off the heels of a #1 single.
"Eminem's current single, "Love The Way You Lie" (featuring Rihanna), holds at #1 on Hot Digital Songs for the third straight week. The smash sold 314,000 copies, bringing its three-week total to 936,000. It holds at #2 on the Hot 100 for the third straight week."

Who cares, i'm tired of arguing about this. This thread isn't about Rockstar 101, this is about Love The Way You Lie being her seventh #1, and 2nd #1 so far this year. I could careless about anything else.
