I don't think radio is racist, black music just has more of an advantage because "pop" doesn't really have a real definition anymore. However, I do believe race has something to do with it - Justin Timberlake I think who probably has the most "cred" won't have any chance joining that list anytime soon.
SMH @ these crazy ass people. Mariah identifies herself as an African-American woman. Whenever a black person is doing really good, you fools discredit them.
"She's not really black.."
"They've got that urban/black radio support.."
Such nonsense. If Mariah or Beyoncé were white, the fact of the matter is, they would be much more successful than they already are. If you don't get that, it is a waste of time to converse with such incompetent people..
Exactly. Being half African American & Caucasian I can not be biased and say it's sad that black artists have to work twice as hard as their white counterparts to even get half the recognition or success.
Ummm yes they would have.... regardless of American airplay most of these songs did well Worldwide. You girls get so tense when airplay is brought up for some reason as if WHITE PEOPLE dont run iTunes with an iron fist.
A lot of white artists get played on urban radio...Teena Marie, Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake, etc. More white artists would have the advantage of getting urban radioplay, if more white artists sang urban music like those I mentioned.
Rude Boy, here in the United States there is a "rule" that (some) people go by called the one drop rule.
It means if you have any black in you then YOU ARE BLACK. (It's racist, I know, but whatever.)
No. NO NO NO. Please don't tell me you just perpetuated an old racist mindset from the slavery era. Considering that we have been trying to move beyond that stuff for over 150 years now, can we just leave the eugenics out of this?
