Kyle Minogue believes the success of Lady GaGa is down to her and feels she influenced Lady GaGa and her career. Singer Kylie Minogue has shocked Lady GaGa fans by claiming she sees a lot of herself in Lady GaGa.

“I think there’s an element of me in her,” Kylie told Blackbook magazine.

“In as much as dance music has gone mainstream, I’d love to think that I’ve played a part in that.”

Kylie also admits she has “dark” moments.

“Am I happy right now? What’s happy? I have moments of happiness and sometimes they’re even strung together, but I definitely have dark moments, too,” she said.

“Thankfully, those don’t last very long. I can go down very quickly, but I won’t stay there.”

One Lady GaGa fan from Sheffield said: “I cannot believe Kylie has come out with such rubbish, Lady GaGa and Kylie Minogue have nothing in common, so to say that she feels she has influenced her career is complete nonsense.”

I think Kylie's just saying she paved the way for Lady Gaga's success to be possible. And I don't she's necessarily wrong in that.

While Kylie has made a tremendous impact on dancepop and thus Lady Gaga, I think that singers should never say anything along the lines of "I am a big influence." People who are big influences have other people claim that; they shouldn't claim it themselves.
