Well, she was even bitcher during the Stripped era, so I don't think that's a huge problem at all for her. But she does needs to have ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS material (and, of course, good management behind her) for her work to shadow her personality, which I don't think is THAT bad. The thing is that because she lacks on charisma, people tend to take her too seriously or to not get her sense of humor.
It was a different kind of 'bitch attitude' back then. She was "stripped" in a way that she was harsh, but she seemed honest - in a weird ****ed up way - so people didn't exactly back off from her.
Now it's like she scares even her old fans. Like you said, it's probably lack of charisma. It's like she spends so much time away from 'regular persons' she forgets how to act normally.

She seemed honest back then because she was. During the Stripped era just was speaking her mind and being herself 100% because that's what she needed to do, she was unleashing all the kinds of feelings that she had locked up inside for her whole life. Stripped was therapeutic for her. It was a shock for almost everybody who knew that little girl that sang Genie In A Bottle ans What A Girl Wants who was all the sudden saying all those things, speaking her mind, with some OMG songs which were very different from her previous album but also very honest.
And now people are seeing all kinds of coments from her and taking them to be huge greek tragedies because of that honesty she put out back in 2002-2003, but that was just a phase and people don't seem to see that. She WAS on a very important period of her life where she NEEDED to do that, but now she's on a completely different time in her life now, she's married, she's had a baby and everything and people don't seem to see that. They think that everything she says is still 100% shady and negativy towards other people when she might just be messing around.
*When I say 'people', please understand that I'm talking about general public, not those jerks who dedicate a lot of time in their lives to hate on her just to do it; without being able to open their minds just a tiny bit for the fact that they might be wrong about her*
And it looks like sound rehearsal so obviously the people not paying attention are doing their designated jobs for the upcoming game, so yeah i'm not really moved by the pic either.
Cough, sarcasm, cough!
Honestly, this whole project was DOA. Nothing will save it at this point. I actually think she should stay away for a while, do some charity work, church or something, and wait until Lady Gaga fades (because she will), and come back with that sound she had when she first came out.
I didn't believe her when she was ghettotina...in Stripped days...i thinks she's very honest and cute now (watch storytellers) she just need to show her softer side more often...
The problem with Christina is that she's heavily marketed by her voice ALONE. Yeah, she's always trying different styles, and that's important for an artist aiming for longevity to have, but the problem with it is that she doesn't adapt those styles to fit her OWN. She simply mimics the style of those who write for her. Stripped was honest because she wrote it all herself and was more connected to her material. With this album, you could take any of the songs and give them to their respective singers. "Elastic Love", for example, SOUNDS like M.I.A. is in it. "Birds of Prey" could easily be sung (and better) by Ladytron. Sia could nail any of the ballads she wrote for her.
Christina needs to be marketed with a unique musical identity - not just "the voice of our generation", because at the end of the day, no one cares simply about the voice, but more-so about an artist who has their own, unique musical identity.
She should do a Beyonce and release a uptempo and a ballad at the same time. Woohoo and You Lost me as next singles. Then maybe Glam or Prima Donna and You lift me up or I Am afterwards. I'm sorry but Desnudate and Vanity would flop drastically if released.

Those are the key lines for me. Yes, she was honest back then, she was feeling that. But now, she isn't. Like you said, she's grown up, she's a married woman, a mother, and she's desperately trying to sound like she did 8 years ago, which only sounds forced and unnatural.
This time she's being a 'bitch' in the worst kind possible, and that's what's pushing people away. She's trying to 'fit in' and she shouldn't need to. Someone as talented as her should be above this, and it's sad to realize she thought she needed to do what she did in order to be as relevant as she was back in the 'Stripped' era.
I've said this a million times, but I just love her! I think I don't care about sales anymore... because when she does performances like this one, I just forget everything... she's so amazing, she's SO talented, she's a LEGEND to me... Please never stop Christina. I freaking love you.
