im a xtina fan, but i agree that nmt is not good.
i like it for what it is, a lyrically bad, generic song worse than kesha and gaga's.
people werent expecting that from someone like xtina, so i guess that could be a reason
i also think her label had a dilemma... they didnt know if release the commercial trash: nmt, desnudate, vanity, primma donna, woohoo; the weird but different pop songs: elastic love, bionic, my girls; or the ballads
i guess they picked the safest choice, but it ended up being the wrong one.
also the nmt video is too sexually charged and unoriginal,
i like it, but if she had come up with something creative with bionic people lol it would have charted higher

Yeah NMT sounds pretty dated. It has that same beat that most of the songs that were big around 2006.

The first time I listened to the song the one I problem I had was that it really lacks a chorus. So that could be another reason.

I do still think she might have her own Rude Boy or Hips Don't Lie though.

Oh. When I first heard Rated R I knew Rude Boy would do big things. It had smash written all over it. I was just wondering what track you felt that way about in Bionic lol.

I think NMT has a chorus. But that's it. What's missing is the verses. For me it sounds like the whole song rushes through choruses and thats it. I feel like there needed to be verses to build up to the already existing parts of the song.

I think the problem may be the song is just a chorus. She basically says "i'm not myself tonight" every 5 seconds.

Yeah same here. Although when I first heard HDL I didn't expect it to be so huge.

I was thinking perhaps if she released something like Lift Me Up she might win back the public since she's known for her ballads. As someone said maybe if she re-released she might have some luck, it's unlikely though.

I'm starting to notice similar problems with WooHoo. Nobody wants to listen to the last minute of song which is just drawn out with mostly instrumental.
