On one hand, she is entitled to an opinion, and I didn't find her comments particularly scathing. Her producer's comments were just downright nasty.
Like I mentioned in the Xtina thread, MIA is simply coming off to the general audience as a bitter, envious person. Whether that is her intention or not, she still conveys that scorned appearance.
Again, this is her opinion, but if I were her, I'd be a bit smarter about this. Lady Gaga is loved by MILLIONS worldwide and in the USA - do you really want to set yourself up for backlash by the fans? Remember that those number in the millions. That's a hell of a lot of backlash.
If Xtina was in the same spot as Gaga now, I'd say the same thing - lay off, because the fan base is prone to go rabid and create a potentially nasty backlash.
I only shake my head at MIA's words because it's not a smart career move. Even worse is the director's comments. While those were not MIA's words, he is tied to her through the interview and fans will associate them with that comment.
