Disney starlet Demi Lovato will be joining the Jonas Brothers on their tour this summer, which kicks off July 27 in Dallas, TX. Demi Lovato and and middle-Brother Joe Jonas have recently confirmed that they are in a relationship, and last week Lovato told People "I'm fortunate that I get to work with the person that I'm in the relationship with, rather than being across the country and texting him. I can have him hold my hand when I'm tired." Their tour might now be a little more awkward for the Disney duo, who fans have lovingly named "Jemi" - Joe Jonas ended their relationship yesterday.
Perez Hilton reported earlier today about the break-up, claiming that Joe had his father call Demi to call off the relationship. Demi then Tweeted "First, Joe and I did split but it wasn't over the phone. Things didn't work out but we'll remain friends." Lovato claims that there are no hard feelings, but Hilton later posted his belief that, as a touring partner with the Jonas Brothers, Demi was forced to deny the phone break-up in attempts to preserve Joe's reputation. Joe received a great deal of criticism in 2008 for breaking up with Taylor Swift over the phone.
In other Jonas news, an alleged "assistant" to the Jonas Brothers called KISS 107 today and claimed that one of the Brothers has "a drug problem", and that Joe Jonas has recently gotten a girl pregnant. A Jonas Brothers rep has stated that the woman's claims are "completely false", but no comment has been made by the boys themselves.
UPDATE: Demi Lovato has released this statement via Twitter in regard to the current state of her love life:
"
There are so many crazy rumors flying around today. I'd like to clear a few things up. First, Joe and I did split but it wasn't over the phone. Things didn't work out but we'll remain friends. Secondly, I am NOT dating anybody already. Nothing is more important to me than the relationship I have with my fans. Just thought you guys should know this."
And Joe Jonas tells People: "
Demi and I knew going into our romantic relationship that it may not be an easy one. I realize over the time we have shared together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now. It was my choice to breakup but I love her as a friend. She's been there for me when I needed her. I will continue to be her friend and be there for her."
Demi did update her Twitter yesterday with the following:
"After the week I've had, I can PROMISE you I will KILL this show tonight...Get ready for one intense concert."
