Charice become the 1st Asian Ever in the Top 10 Billoard 200
According to Hits double magazine, Charice is poised to be the 1st Asian to Top the Billboard 200 well within the Top 10 with 45, 626 units sold for the week ending May 17, 2010
This is a significant achievement as there has never been an Asian Crossover from Asia that have achieve breakthrough success as she did.
Although Demand is extremely high for Charice's 1st USA Album, it was EXTREMELY hampered by the SEVERE Under-estimation of her target audience and demographics by retailers such as Target, Barnes and Nobles, etc. etc. as fans reported the scarcity of her Album in stores throughout the week.
Quote:
CD’s are purchased by the Store Chain (Target, Best Buy, Borders etc.) and distributed to their various outlet stores. If there are any shortages, it is because the Store Buyers are perhaps not familiar with Charice and her demographics which, unless you’re a chaster, is understandable. Charice is still a relative unknown, so they probably purchased their standard orders for first-time artists. What a surprise to some of them that the CD is selling like hotcakes lol. They’ll make the corrections to their order totals when they restock.
Beside the setback from week 1, WEA is expecting the numbers to improve as retail stores stock up to meet the demand.
Nevertheless, Charice's initial offering in the USA is considered highly successful garnering the #2 position for Albums released May 11, 2010 behind The National's 3rd studio offering High Violet.
