In the UK job applications ask for that. Many even ask for religion. I don't think it's to discriminate it's just for them to know.

I need to know why people need to know who's gay or straight? what is that for? Isn't sex a private intimacy between genders? It doesn't relate to a job.

I think Google pays us gays more for example? It could be why for example. But yes it is weird af to ask that question

I'd put heterosexual. Get the job. And then come out. If I get fired, I'm suing for discrimination.

And yes, jobs ask everything including your ethnicity and sexuality.
If anyone here is from the UK, last time I checked, Primark does ask for your sexuality. I have no idea why, perhaps equal opportunities but I don't see the relevance.

I've seen jobs do this lately because they are trying to have a more diverse team. But they usually send the survey out once you're already hired.

In Canada places can get in trouble for not having any gay people. Same thing for race.

The amount of video courses I had to watch about sexual orientation inclusion when I got hired was crazy. I work in a bank btw.
