The A.T. Kearney Global Cities Index (GCI) ranks 125 cities according to 27 metrics across five dimensions, including business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, and political engagement.
The Global Cities Outlook (GCO) examines 125 cities and ranks 13 leading indicators across four dimensions: personal well-being, economics, innovation, and governance. The rank and score in the GCO is determined by measuring change across each metric in the past five years, then projecting out to 2024. It measures the likelihood that a city will improve its global standing over the next 10 to 20 years.
5 out of the top15 most global cities in the world are American cities. The only country with multiple entries besides U.S.A. is Australia with 2 cities. There's also no Chinese city on the list. I was told they were slaying America and becoming the new leader of the world?

This list is a combination of the results from the Global Cities ranking (in which the two mentioned above are ranking in the top 25) and the Outlook Ranking (which analyses the potential and future evolution, development of a city, and they failed to make the top 25).
The landslide in that poll would definitely not indicate this type of results.
Especially since there are 4 American cities in the Top10 Global Cities ranking and only 2 Europeans cities.
That is to be expected though. There is a lot more commerce in 3 of those cities and the other is the US capital. I think the point people made in other threads is that there is European cities have a lot more to offer than just business. Prague and Budapest have a population of around 1.2-1.3M each, and cannot compete with big US cities with business and capital. But their architecture is beautiful and they are historical cities.
The list is put together by a private american firm and the criteria are obviously put together from their perspective, influenced by their own trading experiences and benefits. The bias is very obvious.
