According to 2010 census, Brazil is 63% catholic, 22% protestants(16% pentecostals tho, the radical, speaking-in-tongues christians) and 8% non-religious. I guess among the non-religious, 3% are skepticals(atheist and agnostics), because Brazil is still very God-driven by what I can notice.
I didn't know Croatia was that bad tho, sad
Hasn't there been a rebirth in religious devotion in recent years within Brazil? I remember watching that on vice a while back when they did gaycation

Yeah, people have been converting to Protestantism a lot. They went from like 5% in the 70s to 22% in 2010. There are megachurches with huge following that can buy TV time for those obnoxious shows about "healing, praying poverty away", etc. Not even talking about how they are electing many people to our National Congress to push their agenda into laws.

well it's expected people would be religious since Croatia was a part of communism and then went to have a war against Serbia in the 90's. The tool of growing religiosity
but us 90's babies who grew during or after the war are less religious
that's why I am perchedT. for 2021 stats to come out. Catholic church was fuming in 2011 because they were so convinced that catholicism grew and how ortodox and atheists are shrinking, only to find out both catolicism and ortodox faiths had flopped and atheism grew by a double
What we need is our visual release + PR bombardment to make people feel we're bigger than we actually are, religious extremism is on the rise, we NEED the exposure
Believers hate atheists cause they challenge certainties believers have about the order of life.
Religion can be so narcissistic that way. Atheists only position is: let's take time to evaluate the evidence and come to reasonable conclusions about the world we live in. The theist rebuttal is: I don't need evidence, I already know all that's true about this life, death, and the next life. It's such a self-serving narrative. And whenever you attempt to remove people from any self-serving, emotionally charged belief system, you receive a lot of blowback.
Atheists just have to know it's nothing to do with them and everything to do with theists. For example, if they think they can't be moral without a divine rule book, it just shows you their insecurity about their basest human desires and the trouble they have in navigating them. The rest of us don't have that problem.

do some of you understand what this new ATRL update is? Apparently we can transfer our thread or something to the next upgrade, otherwise it will get lost, but I am so confused, I don't understand a thing here so if someone can explain what is going on: http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1092585&page=50

Talking about how it's an African practice, but what I'm not getting is
1. Where in Africa is she getting this from
2. She was born and lives in western (American) society where that is usually frowned upon
So what is she doing?
who cares where the tradition is from. She killed an animal for a stupid superstition. If nothing else, at least that dead bird could have fed a couple of homeless people

Well I think it matters in how people defended her. If she hadn't mentioned it being from Africa, she wouldn't have gotten people leaping to defend her doing all that in a closet for 3 years. Especially if she listed some Western religion as a front.
I think her not specifying what part or group of Africa means she was just pulling **** out her ass on something she thinks they do somewhere in Africa without knowing anything about the people who might.
Anyway she's dumb as hell cause clearly that **** just cursed her.
Which proves witchcraft or whatever can be a thing in some African countries (no idea how popular it is, where, etc though)
Oh I wasn't saying she was lying about those things going on in African countries, but the fact she wasn't specific (from what I recall) yet said it's part of her culture was... interesting to me.

Oh ok. Well sure she's just BSing
But it was quite interesting how a lot of member had it easier saying some religious practices coming from Africa were barbaric and should not be followed, when you have other religious practices coming from other parts of the World that are as barbaric but gets defended quite often here.
It's not like I was listing it as an excuse, cause even if she did say where it was from I wouldn't find it okay.
I mainly brought it up because the thread you mentioned was going on about how judgmental the west is as an excuse, when there are other values we find inappropriate here. Then also complaining about western invasion to force certain values on people.
As someone who benefits from things the west doesn't allow to happen to certain groups, I find defending something just because it's religious and from a different culture means a lot of things wouldn't be in our society. History shows some things are to become not okay in many cultures and religions.
