Fruit Albums of the Year - #5 Hopelessness - ANOHNI
It was tough deciding whether or not to put this at #5 over X-Communicate or Puberty 2, but, ultimately, this album, for all of its many weaknesses, is a wholly unique record that more people should give a chance. The title says it all - this album tackles automated drone bombing of the Middle East, global warming, and government surveillance of the populace. Unlike most attempts to make music political, though, this doesn't feel cheap (aside from the complete mess that is "Obama", and no, I don't mean the man you GOP girls). Rather than being lectured, the listener is exposed to stories and feelings. There is no direct explanation or call to action. ANOHNI lets the audience see the world that she does, and leaves them to make their own (negative) conclusions. If you can get past the weight of the topics addressed, you'll find a stellar debut from a Bjork esque vocalist with a lot to say and a very interesting method of saying it. Take a sampling of the album's best songs below, and see if you're ready to listen to this transwoman lay down all the **** going on out there. If U dnt lyk it ur prolly transphobic.
Bowie's "Blackstar" was in my top 15 singles last year (he dropped the song in mid-December). It's such a phenomenal song. I feel like I don't listen to it enough because it's length is a bit daunting.
Hopelessness is great. I had it at #10. Idk if you saw that or not.

Seeing that PH went on to be the most replied to tournament ever, it seems that I was successful. After our contract expired, Jackson and I were able to come forward about our true relationship. It's been a tumultuous couple of years together, but I look forward to many more with the love of my life! <3

Fruit Albums of the Year - #4 This is Acting - Sia
People say that Sia is a singles artist because she hasn't delivered a singular, fantastic album. First off, those people never listened to Color the Small One or Some People have Real Problems, but whatever. This is Acting is a stellar pop album in a time when many of our faves can't even deliver half of that (@LiterallyEveryone). The deluxe version she released just further entrenched it in my Top 5, with deliriously catchy songs like Confetti, Midnight Decisions, and The Greatest. While everyone is busy arguing over whether Camilla DiBella is going to debut above 30k, Sia is busy cutting herself a slice of the pop field. In 10 years, she's going to be the one left standing.
