The Botanical Ball - Judges' Critiques

Eve Saint Laurence:
Whew, you bitch, I almost get mad that you slay me so much. But at least this is proof that we're related, or something. Your 3D printed bikini serving alien beaches of Venus (and those shoes, good lord); I live. I was expecting you to put on a thigh-high boot with a bikini, and I'm thankful you didn't. Your White Party was almost my favorite tonight; I realize the dress itself is simple, but it embodies everything about minimalism at its finest, and you pushed with your accessories (House of Emmanuelle? YES GAWD), hair and makeup (poor Kim Chi); it also seems everyone has a lil' black in them with that shoe. Your Executive Realness was the only puzzler for me; it has a vague essence of 80's business woman, and the dress itself is almost floral, but it doesn't really stay too true to the theme itself. Oh, well, I still live because it looks good (don't I always?). And then you used one of my absolute favorite dresses, that John Galliano for Christian Dior (Was that 1998? I believe so-- someone fact check that one for me), and I'm just #STUNNED. Brilliant job, but I expected that from you, even if you probably did this in 15 minutes.
Nina Williams:
n I'll be frank in saying I wasn't interested in literally any of these. Your White Party and your Botanical Eleganza were the most interesting to me, but even then, I couldn't find myself in love with them. I won't even talk about the basic monstrosities that are your Bikini and Executive Realness-- truly un-noteworthy. I was torn on your White Party; part of me thinks it's genius to include a flash of color in there, as it really stands out and does look stunning, but that flies in the face of the theme itself-- and are those MoonChild's Sphynx earrings? Sisterhood of the traveling outfits this week. And then your Eleganza was the best look here I believe-- this is what I was expecting when I said it was open to interpretation how you chose to execute your outfit, and I think you did that well. Butterfly wings and that fascinator that almost borders on Manila nonsense, yet it isn't totally tacky. At least you could put together something competently; too bad you still failed to shine. Now's not the time.
Pixel Dark:
You ****, how the **** did you actually manage to put together outfits that aren't 100% horrible? Oh, wait-- MoonChild helped you. I swear to God, that man isn't **** for giving you an outfit that I told him EYE was going to use; at least it makes sense now why he said this would do you favors. That Jane Doe Latex dress is a personal favorite piece of mine, and I guess I'm happy to see it on this runway or something. And it looks like you took a cue from me again-- when in doubt, put a Louboutin on it. Your White Party look is clearly the best of your four this week, and it almost reminds me of MoonChild's Studio 54; but that isn't to discredit you, I'm just saying it reminds me of another good look from this runway and so that in itself is a good thing. Your Bikini barely deserves words; the adding a dress on top of it was interesting enough but I'm not fond of the lace ups looking so lazy (even though I suppose that was intentional). Your Eleganza is horrible, though, so props to you staying true to yourself and doing something I really couldn't care any less to look at. But despite that, you did a surprisingly good job this week and that in itself deserves some sort of reward.
Tangerine:
Is this your Bob in the Biographical Ball edit? We were expecting actual, 100% glamour eleganza for your final look, and you gave us this **** that I swear I saw at ComicCon where someone dressed up as the baby sun from The TeleTubbies or something. It's hideous, and I mean that-- though, I suppose you were limited by the flower you got (poor that); the hair, necklace and crown are good touches, though. I was absolutely in love with your Beach Wear; a transparent raincoat is one of my own old faithful staples, and to see it in this electric green with a visor was a stun. A shame about the remainder two looks of yours-- decently put together and yet unentertaining and unsatisfying on their own. My personal thoughts on your White Party and Executive Realness were "Prostitute" and "Yawn", respectively. A disappointing week from you in general.

Blossoming Beach Wear
It's a fairly simple look that does its job in the category is in. Doesn't really do much but it's still cute regardless.
White Party Eleganza
Really elegant and pretty, like how you incorporated some sort of color. I like the simplicity of it, but it's sort of a common thing in all your looks minus the Full Bloom.
Executive
Again, this does its job for what you were asked but you have me wishing for more.
Full Bloom
The dress itself is really nice and I like how you incorporated the butterfly elements to it. (Kinda wish you didnt since we've seen like 4 butterfly inspirations already this season) The makeup is creative, not totally sold on the fascinator. Should have used Acid Betty's make up for it Anyway it's definetely creative and that's what I was looking for. The magic inspiration is a nice touch for your character as well.
Pixel Dark
Blossoming Beach Wear
The string dress is amazing and I'm glad you incorporated that into your look to make it more unique. Everything here is good in my eyes and you did a good job representing the category. Serve a bit.
White Party Eleganza
The elegance is a slay. Love the dress and the coat and the pop up red lip color. I'm unsure about the hair, which is something I'm always critiquing you for. It kinda deserved a more put together up do or something. But all in all you did quite well here as well.
Executive
I really love your dress latex thing. You showed a lot of improvement this time around from your last slump in the Tarot Ball. The red touches and the hair is amazing. Serve bombshell. Living the fantasy tbh.
Full Bloom
Well you know I'm a roserade fan, and of course this is my favorite flower. I like the dress but that's pretty much it. Instead of going for white hair like that I wish you were more creative and had some sort of rose head piece. I'm not sure how you're able to walk in those shoes either, and they're not particularly pretty. You should have used Lady Gaga's marry the night ballet ones ddd. The bouquet is a nice touch, but again I wish that somehow you had roses glued to your hands or something. I really wanted y'all to go there for this last look.
Eve Saint Laurence
Blossoming Beach Wear
Living for it. Some might say you went way too out of the box, but eh that's what's exciting about drag queen fashion. I don't want to see regular clothes and pieces that a normal bitch on the street would wear. Love the whole thing head to toe.
White Party Eleganza
Again you really blew this away. Love the minimalistic approach with the dress and the silhouette it has. I'm unsure if the jewelry is a belt or an actual necklace but I like it both ways so that's fine. Great creative hair, and I like the touch with the black in the shoe. Slay girl
Executive
I was criticized in my season for serving a non realistic executive look and I was like "**** them". Like I said this is drag, don't care if you want "realness". I knew I had the best executive look. However, this particular dress isn't selling me any type of executive teas. The only way I see this is if the bitch is a fashion director or something. It's okay to go out of the box as long as the initial inspiration is still there, but like I said I'm not getting it. Still solid and I love this hair.
Full Bloom
I'm kinda disappointed by this. I like the hair, makeup and shoes. The dress itself I'm not liking. It's certainly a piece, but I find it to be ugly and think you could have done a lot more like you did with your other looks.
Tangerine
Blossoming Beach Wear
This is a very nice look. I love the green neon transparent touches. You did well.
White Party Eleganza
This is my favorite of the 4 looks. A slay. Great hair, a nice dress and a fur coat to give it that umph. You are serving polar bear bitch. Gaga's impact?
Executive
ddd love the write up. Anwyay, I like the retro feel of this and the military type dress/coat thing. Great hair. A solid look.
Full Bloom
I don't like this. I rather be straight up. I think you did a good job considering the flower, but it looks a bit cheap in my eyes. Maybe if you would have lost the choker. the nails and found a better looking corset. I like how you did your own skirt tho and I always like headpieces. The hair is also alright.

Carbon's Critiques
For these critiques I see little point in telling any of you "what you should do next time" considering how deep we are in the competition so expect my critiques to be brief. I'll try be straight up and to the point so there's no malice in any of the comments!
Nina Williams
Blossoming Beach Wear Babe - Incredibly boring really and I'm surprised that you thought this was acceptable in the top 4. There's no characterisation present in this runway that relates to yourself and I think completely ignoring the "blossoming" part of the criteria enhances how plain this look is.
White Party Eleganza - Again... this is just so plain. It really doesn't stand out at all Nina - if anything, it stands out how ill thought it seems. The splashes of colours are a nice touch, I guess, but this is just a nice fishy white dress that almost anyone could have submitted.
Budding Business Executive Realness - See above.
Full Bloom Botanical Eleganza Extravaganza - Now this is something I can get behind. Your explanation for what the Black Lotus symbolised was kinda extra and I doubt the other judges really care too much. This is a mostly well thought out concept that translate into something unique, whilst utilising your video game references that make you stand out, which I really wish you'd done for your other three looks. It perplexes me that I've continually pushed you to use this schtick you have in almost all your looks because you usually do it well, and yet you continue to be selective about it. Overall, I do like this look. I'm not sure it immediately reads as a lotus, but I get the reference, and it looks nice.
Pixel Dark
Blossoming Beach Wear Babes - Again, I'm disappointed that you didn't try to fuse your assigned flower into your other looks. I also agree that beach wear looks can be boring and I appreciate that you tried to mix it up with your string dress, but everything else mostly falls into the generic side that almost any contestant could have submitted.
White Party Eleganza - Pixel Dark is a glamorous drag queen I see. I loooooove the detailing on the dress, and your idea to go for winter bitch is pretty nice and executed well. Good job on this one!
Budding Business Executive Realness - It's actually stupid how erect PVC/latex looks make me. I love this. This gives me 2010's tumblr chick going to a sexcratary job interview. I really enjoy this look. If you could have implemented some studs or spikes somewhere in the look and said "this is a thorned rose" you would've been golden.
Full Bloom Botanical Eleganza Extravaganza - Ok you better stan Roserade! I would like this look more if it was more inspired rather than cosplay. This feels too on point to the source material and not really your own creation. It does read rose... but that's really only because you're carrying two giant rose bouquets.
Eve Saint Laurence
Blossoming Beach Wear Babes - WHEW. This is a look. I love everything about this. The unique geometry of the shoes and corset make it extremely eye catching, and I think equating blossoming = birth/nakedness is really cool. Amazing!
White Party - Toot.
Budding Business Executive Realness - Hmm, I'm kinda mixed with this. I like the layered effect of the top piece but everything else feels kinda meh, especially since you think you're cool enough to provide absolutely no description for any of your looks.
Full Bloom Botanical Eleganza Extravaganza - I think this is your biggest fail of your entry. I really don't see how this translates to orchid, and it isn't my job as a judge to fill in the gaps for you since, again, you provided no description or references where you were taking your entry.
Tangerine
Blossoming Beach Wear Babes - You better snatch them extra points for Carrie! Your look is very interesting. A see through coat with an interesting swimsuit underneath? It feels very... familiar. S2 familiar. I can't think where I might have seen it before. Anyway. This is great. The transparent raincoat is super cute and unique, and the visor gives it a cute camp element. Wish you'd had some more floral/botanical elements, but when you managed to pull off a look this well (@Eve) you kinda forget the bad parts.
White Party Eleganza - Yes bitch! This is the sorta look I wish Pixel and Nina had done, in that its completely in tune with your own aesthetic in character; the fur coat, the big hair, the simplicity of it all! Great work.
Budding Business Executive Realness - Are you performing a coup? I'm totally here for you hosting S4. This kinda gives me a cheaper version of Aciid's dominatrix look for the same challenge last season, which I regularly touch myself to. So... toot!
Full Bloom Botanical Eleganza Extravaganza - Hmm. I'm not completely sold on this. Going by your description, it just sounded like you wanted to get the sunflower element out of the way, without really developing your look around it. If I took away the questionable sunflower skirt, your look would mostly fall apart, and so I don't think this look cohesively works together as a sunflower eleganza extravaganza. It's not a disaster though, and the look is mostly okay. I wish you'd explained where this whole nymph idea came from or if it even relates to your flower, but whatevaaaaa

I liked your idea of the whole pin up beach girl vibe and it was a cute look but it was kind of plain compared to the other girls and that sense of plainness kind of goes on into your other looks as well. There was very minimum effort done to make anything really stand out or pop. That's been your biggest critique the entire competition. It was all very safe and dare I say boring to look at.
Pixel -
I loved the beach wear look. The hair is sexy, the look is fun and flirty and goes well together. I could go without the shoes though. Your white party look is my favorite I love that dress, I love that coat. It is very classy , very snobby looking. Your business realness is wonderful. Serving CEO of a sex dungeon and I'm living for it. The shoes could leave tho.
I like how your botanical look had a theme. Serve Poke Ball hehe. But you found the idea you wanted and put it together in a nice enough fashion. It wasn't the greatest look but your creativity was there and that's what counts in this challenge.
Eve -
I don't even know how your beach look would work on the beach. I don't see any fun in it. It's the beach not an art museum. What is that? I'm almost offended by it. Why the gloves? Your white party look is my favorite I think it works well for the subject. Very nice dress and I love the hair cut.
I'm not getting much business from the business realness look. And for the most part I don't see where the concept in your last look is either. You could have at least explained why it's an orchid. Like look we get it you know designers and can google. Like cool, and it worked last Ball but I know you're more creative then that. Put some effort into what you're submitting.
Tangerine -
Always fun with you and I love that. The cute coat, the little details in the popsicle, you make us see the performance you put and it's wonderful. The visor is a nice add on as well. I'm not a fan of bondage dresses but I love the fur coat and that wig is everything. Your business look is my favorite out of all the business ones. Serve 90's working up the corporate latter! Realness if I ever saw one.
I feel for you on the sunflower one and I actually like what you did. It was kind of messier then polished but you get an A for effort.

Your bikini wear is the epitome of basic. This doesn’t say drag, it doesn’t say fashion. It gives me chubby girl trying to hide her problem pooch with a high-waisted bottom. There’s nothing exciting about your white party. It looks very matronly, like something I’d see on a woman 40+. Business fish is cute, nothing spectacular but passable. My problem with you, and has been this entire competition is that you do have it in you to be amazing, as evidenced by your final look which is stunning from head to toe. This is the kind of effort and creativity you should be serving the entire time.
Basic. Dowdy. Passably Cute. Yas Gawd.
Pixel –
I get you wanted to be creative with swimwear but all you really did was pick an ugly ass dress to go over a very standard bikini. Your white eleganza is by far your most successful look, everything about it feels high-end and polished. I’m assuming you’re in the prostitution business judging by the look for it but it doesn’t feel lux at all. The jacket looks really cheap and brings down the entire look. The outfit would’ve look much better without it and that tacky red hair that’s too matchy-matchy with what else you have on. The botanical look is a big fail for me. I don’t see rose inspiration, and what I do see isn’t cute. You lost focus here by limiting yourself to a pokemon reference, and one that doesn’t even read off as very rose-y to begin with.
Eve –
Quite frankly, there’s so little to say about your first 3 looks because they are gorgeous throughout. You may have been a lazy, half-assing competitor at times but THIS IS WHY YOUR STILL HERE. Honestly, looking at your swimwear compared to the others makes your competition look like garbage. You have an eye for fashion and innovation that everyone else seems to lack. It’s clear you know when to dial back on your hair and makeup when you have an out there silhouette, and when to amp it up with a more basic dress. Everything is borderline flawless. I will say, while I love the design of your third look, the fabrication looks almost quilt-like to me which is really cheapening the whole vibe. Orchids are vibrant and I don’t get that in the pattern. It’s your only miss here, which is a bit disappointing as
Tangerine –
One thing about you is that you really know your strengths and weaknesses and I think it’s safe to say you’re not much of a fashion queen but you know how to play it up. Your pop culture references and extra bits you add on the runway really help not only sell your looks, but your overall persona and brand. Swimwear is alright, but the accessories really saved it from being generic. Your white party is your best look but it does feel like something we’ve seen before from you. The business look is unremarkable but your final look is possibly your first big miss of the competition. Did you give yourself this look because it feels like you had no idea how to really execute a good sunflower based ensemble.

God the judging is try hard and cringe worthy. Lemme not judge anymore ya'll literal trash for letting that type of laziness pass.

Well I went to you immediately after last week's results about assigning flowers and you were too busy fuming that you had to share a win with Eve to try, so I asked her to assign; but then her ass didn't respond and I went back to you and you decided to deign to do it just shortly after Eve finally got back to me. Lord.
Results about to come.

The Botanical Ball - Results
This week, you girls were supposed to show us your best botanical sensations in a flower-themed ball; with beach wear, white party, executive realness and botanical eleganza being your categories. With these results, we'll know two of our three finalists.
Results...
Eve Saint Laurence
This week, you truly blossomed. Condragulations, you are the winner of this week's challenge, and you are in the top 3.
Nina Williams
This week, you didn't quite rise like a Lotus; your fashion appeared rather wilted. I'm sorry, my dear, but you are up for elimination.
Pixel Dark
You truly bloomed this week, showing us more than the tasteless demon we thought we knew. You're safe, and are in the top 3.
Tangerine
Your theme may have been the sunflower, but it's all an overcast with you this week. Perhaps it's a fluke; but either way, the result is the same. I'm sorry, my dear, but you are up for elimination.
...
Nina Williams. Tangerine.
Two queens stand before me. You have 24 hours from this post to prove to me why you deserve to stay. Pandering and talking about how much this competition means to you will not cut it; the bar's way too high for that now. Show me why you can slay the rest of the game. If you do not PM your lip sync to me by the deadline, you will be eliminated.
Good luck, and...

Ahh I'm glad the white party look was well-received. It's definitely my favorite look all season. I can only wish I was smart enough to think of the latex thing myself, but that was ghost-written by Moon Anyway, I am just grateful that I managed to crawl my way through a fashion challenge.

The Botanical Ball - Lip Sync
Nina Williams. Tangerine.
Nina Williams
Quote:
Originally I had planned this super cute feelsy lip sync that had me reflecting on my time here and wrapping up this whole experience with a nice little bow.
Instead I feel it is high time I really get into why this game has degraded into some warped budget version of Project Runway. I’m not here to drag Tangerine or Pixel, even if I didn’t know them off-game, as contestants they have brought what it needs to be top three. No instead let’s start by talking about Eve Saint Laurence once more.
This is going back to that dreaded “Who should go home? And why?” question but whatever. Her ranking HIGH for Serving Fish was questionable seeing as she had literally no input that week but ~was on the winning team so it’s excusable~. OK.
Next we have Sissy That Lip Sync for which she just copied and pasted her old entry from S2 and then Aesthetics she didn’t even submit a runway.
Every one of her entries from Snatch Game onwards (except The Tarot Ball) has read as some kind of kiki-type dissertation just between her and Chanel to laugh about.
For her lip-sync vs Kunty she apparently once again copied + pasted.
For Politi****s we were asked to talk smack about our competitors and she didn’t do that yet was rewarded with a WIN.
Finally, we come to another questionable decision with Eve not bottoming for this past challenge: The Botanical Ball. The executive realness looking like something off a couture tumblr blog is one thing but the absolute lack of descriptions on ANY looks is another.
So basically, this whole competition rewards: half-assing assigned objectives, re-using work and just straight up not completing challenge components.
I had 7 weeks straight of constant remarks of being called filler and mediocre yet regardless of how my entries were received I always did what was asked of me, I always submitted on time and I kept it cute. I don’t stroll in here once every two weeks to post passive aggressive comments and announce I only care about fashion, NO. I have played this game to the best of my ability and played it to the end. I would love to stay and continue playing till the end too but eh... not likely.
Listen, at the end of the day I applied to this game to comeback to ATRL but then afterwards go inactive again but this time on a more positive note. Even with how ridiculous this game has been it’s still a better note to leave on then how I left before. I did have fun and that really is the important thing.
I can only think of one way to end my time here but with a simple message:
Pixel Dark IS a successful drag queen. I ‘screem’ sometimes but that’s just the Ninia Simone way. You girls better
to the finish line unless you want Shane Daw- I mean Citrus to come along and rig this further.
Nina’s Theme (from Tekken 2) comes on and I strut once more down the runway just like how I entered, pose just as the track ends (giving a slight smirk to the panel) and then leave the stage letting out a resounding:
MEH!
