They don't want to increase the amount of taxes collected despite the fact that there is population growth and economic growth. It's totally unrealistic and will explode the budget. Obama just got the budget deficits going back down again and not Republicans are proposing increasing them again.

the deficit is projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2022 regardless of which party is in power and its mostly due to mandatory spending (Social Security and Medicare spending is about to increase by a lot over the next few years due to baby boomers reaching retirement age)

The US needs to accept that it has to raise taxes or cut a boatload of stuff. What they've got going on right now is totally unsustainable.
