ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Now that you’ve had a few days distance on the New Year’s Eve show, what are your feelings about it?
MARIAH CAREY: All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business. I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time.
Do you think this will make you wary of signing onto a future live TV event?
It’s not going to stop me from doing a live event in the future. But it will make me less trusting of using anyone outside of my own team.

nnnnn not her acting like she was intentionally sabotaged and she's 100% not at fault. There have been so many instances of sound issues in live performances and in ear monitors not working...it sucks, but it happens. The way the artist handles it kinda makes or breaks the situation. If you're lip-syncing though and you get caught, you're kinda screwed there.
The way that she handled it though is what made it so bad....she only has herself to blame. Just stopping, walking around, saying random things, not even trying to save it....Like, when WBT started, she was lipping to it (on time, that is), and then just gave up and put the mic down.

) Not to mention, the lip-syncing in general. That's an extra technical aspect you're risking to not sing live.
