There are real reasons why drug abuse in the gay community is so high and they have a lot to do with societal treatment and expectations of gays.
There is more to the gay scene than this. It’s unfair to stereotype the whole community like that, but you’re coincidentally enacting another stereotype by doing so.

I guess that depends on where you live. I also think that the gay community and the gay "scene" are a bit different and composed of different people. It's literally like one is day and one is night. There are people who strive to create community and build safe spaces for sure, and those are the people who will do LGBT yoga, clubs, and such. At night, you're not really connecting with anyone over loud music and drunkness. Most guys won't even speak to guys that they're not somewhat attracted to at the club, it's sad to see, and when I go to these places I feel like I have to act the same way. I'm thinking of holy mountain as I type this
