I guess that depends on where you live. I also think that the gay community and the gay "scene" are a bit different and composed of different people. It's literally like one is day and one is night. There are people who strive to create community and build safe spaces for sure, and those are the people who will do LGBT yoga, clubs, and such. At night, you're not really connecting with anyone over loud music and drunkness. Most guys won't even speak to guys that they're not somewhat attracted to at the club, it's sad to see, and when I go to these places I feel like I have to act the same way. I'm thinking of holy mountain as I type this

True, but I think that both can be "scenes" or part of the same scene and is any club scene personable? Do straight people leave the clubs with 10 new friends every night? I think all nightclub scenes function similarly, the pickup culture and the fact that people are on drugs and it's dark means people will naturally stick to their friends or people they want to hook up with. And this may not be for everyone, but I do think that dismissing the scene entirely because of a specific scenario isn't really thinking about what a gay scene is or can be.

I work for two local nonprofit organizations. One as a sexual health educator and one as a LGBT youth advisor. I also host and participate in local LGBT events.

For me, the gay scene isn't just bars and parties. Here in South Florida, there's a lot more available.
