I don't believe that people are now turning against Jennifer Lawrence. She still has a long career ahead of her and probably have more awards to come. The J. Law bandwagon hate is getting annoying now. She happens to be white and talented. So? Deal!

So currently they only get back ~55-56 millions. While the budget is 110 millions, not included marketing budget.

um you're forgetting that the studio spent A TON on promotion so even if the film breaks even its still a loss.

True, but it's at 126M in 10 days and it just debuted in all the markets this weekend, with still huge markets to debut. I wouldn't count it off yet. It may not be ending making big profit, but it won't be a disaster AT ALL

Uhm, the break even point includes marketing costs as well, so if it breaks even it'll be a success.

And I doubt that they spend that much on marketing. The promotion started really late, there weren't many TV spots and most of the promotion consisted of interviews, which aren't nearly as expensive as huge billboards, ads during prime time television or large statues that were build somewhere.

Looks like it will breakeven. JLaw will be fine.

Plus it's not a franchise or an animated movie and went against Star Wars, another space drama.

The only original movie from 2016, that has grossed more than "Passengers" is "Sully" afaik.
And "Passengers" will outgross it.

The movie had a lot going against it and the fact that it'll likely still break even proves that JLaw and Chris Pratt have some star power, even if it isn't as big as DiCaprios for example.

I remember someone saying it will flop harder than that JLo and Ben Affleck movie after it's opening weekend, like It will stop making money after that LOL.
