Well, as someone pointed out, Mariah's mic was working. Also, the audience was screaming but she could likely still hear the same music the audience could hear, no? There were speakers everywhere. The issue most people seem to have is that she made no attempt at all. There are a million ways she could have handled it but the thing that is most clear is that she wasn't ready to sing live at all.
