Since there's a lot of confusion and discussion often about these terms, I was wondering what the good hunties at ATRL identify as? I was gonna add a poll but it took me to the post without asking me to make it anyway, whoops.

I'm personally a Leftist.

Some of these terms may have different meanings based on where you live, so feel free to ask any questions if confused.

Classical liberal.

I try not to support/identify with anything honestly idk

"Liberal" is weird in America because it not only means someone who is socially liberal but believes in some sort of government intervention in the economy.... Since I am from Europe, I see a liberal as someone who would be a ''libertarian'' in the US.

Anyway I guess I would be a leftist....

I believe that people should have the freedom to be as they are within reason. I believe that the government has a duty to protect its citizens against attacks from outside agents and each other. I believe that the upcoming administration will harm America.

American liberalism = upholding free-market capitalism, obviously with "some" restrictions, but ones meant to help those in power (ie: bailouts).

Leftists and Liberals differ in their view of the individual vs the collective.

I'm... trying to explain without making this thread go into a debate about a specific issue.

Basically American liberals think intervention in personal freedoms is fine as long as it doesn't interfere with the economy because it anchors most of their views and will often say the answer to achieving personal freedom is the free market. Libertarians don't believe it's a government's place to intervene at all in freedoms of any section of life.

In between tbh.

On one hand, both sides have good ideas.

But the extremists on both side make me cringe and stay away from any particular group.
On me side there's borderline KKK members (who also hate Jews so I'm on their hate list )
On the other side the SJW Tumblr jokes of human beings...

I guess I'm in the middle then - whatever that is.

I used to be moderate left but realised they are complacent as hell and just want the status-quo. They no longer value things like free health care/global warming and are the type to recognise a racist society yet at the same time dismiss BLM and other PoC run movements.
