In a recently resurfaced stand-up routine from 1983, Eddie Murphy spends five minutes being very derogatory about gay people, and even saying that he is petrified to hang out with women who have gay friends in case they are carrying AIDS.
Even if he was a comedian, he obviously had some homophobic feelings and I really hope he has changed his views since then.

This may have been decades ago and for that I'd usually let him off because of how different things were back then, but he is obviously still happy enough to gain and profit from homophobia given that this has just been put up on Netflix.
33 years ago... He's apologized and become a better person since then. Let's not lose sight of what SHOULD be the point of calling people out for problematic behavior: helping them see the error of their ways and do better
And homophobia (literal emphasis on the phobia part) in addition to a fear of aids were super prevalent back then.

He wasn't a child and making fun of such a horrible disease is not funny
Resurfaced? Raw and Delirious have been online since forever. I remember watching it early 2000's and throughout the years showed it to several people that didn't know his stand up routines.
Only because you noticed it now as it's on Netflix doesn't mean it's "resurfaced".
And yes he says things that through our eyes now is hurtful and disgusting but that's how we evolved and educated ourselves throughout the years. In the 80s, what he was saying was what basically everyone was saying and believed...until we knew better.
