Ceasefire is always good. The reactions here are not nuanced enough imo. Both the US, Russia and the "rebels" (such a broad term look at the some of the opposition ideologies ) and even Assad are not all white nor all black.

Anyway Syria is a mess, I have one of my best friend who is Syrian he used to go back with his family every summer when we were kids and now looking at that country hurts.. Thank god Putin helped Assad because if it wasn't for him the country would have ended up like Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan etc..

You're assuming those people are far left in their ideology.

Bernie picked up tons of independents who actually skew more to the center or right in the US, especially the ones who often up end identifying as Libertarian, which is basically a right-wing party in the US.

Trust me. "rebels = terrorists" and "Assad = good" are not left talking points, they're right talking points. Politics in the US are a left-to-right spectrum that doesn't wrap around. There's no mythical overlap between the far left & far right. That ad nauseam talking point is stupid. The Far Left may be critical of US imperialism in the US, but it's just as critical of Assad and is still largely pro-people/pro-rebels/pro-Syrians.

Looks like 1989 wasn't the end of it. Western world was celebrating after they took that wall down but they ended up building more -invisible- walls. I knew Russia&co still had a chance, I already started learning Russian.

People on this website calling any American politician "far left" is hilarious. They are all on the right spectrum of economics and that's a fact. Trump in his rhetoric-in reality he'll end up being just like every US politician- is more on the left than the so called leftists who keeps pushing the globalization and glorification of capitalism.

I will agree with the first paragraph. The only reason the west is so involved in Syria when there are so many other dictators worldwide comparable to Assad is because he is allied with Russia.
