I love how blunt he is too! Beyonce and Destiny's Child are clearly counted as separate, but I could see why you want them combined since Beyonce's solo album equivalents aren't particularly impressive (no shade).

As for the question about Beyoncé being the highest selling artist right now, the answer is no. Adele, at 73 million as of last July 2016 or Rihanna, at 65 million as of June 2016, are examples of artists that first came out years after Beyoncé who are already well past her total.

Really?
1) Adele - 72,312,000 (3)
2) Britney - 63,083,000 (7)
3) Beyonce- 58,078,000 (6)
Without BOMT, Britney's albums equivalents aren't particularly impressive too. Just be grateful she released it in the peak of album sales.

It is all about how you define “artist”, “her generation”, “she is” and “most successful”, it just seem you look of numbers in the most convenient way for Britney Spears.
First, about “artist”. As a person, Beyoncé sold more equivalent albums than Britney Spears. As a music act, Britney Spears sold more equivalent albums than Beyoncé. The “Britney Spears is the biggest female” isn’t consistent, if we refer to a ranking based on the sex of the artist, then we can only be talking about the person, on which Beyoncé leads. If you want to talk about music acts then sex doesn’t matter and on that you would need to include Eminem and the likes.
Second, it’s easy to claim Britney is the biggest of “her generation” when she started 4 years ahead of Beyoncé and released 4 more albums. What’s more, that 4 years lead happened at the all-time peak of the industy while Beyoncé started when the market started to slow down. When Dangerously In Love came out, Britney Spears had accumulated way, way more than 40 million equivalent album sales which means she is ahead today only thanks to the advance she started with. From 2003 to date Beyoncé is on 61,9 million equivalent album sales with 6 albums, Britney on 31 million, less than half, with one more album.
Third, “she is” the biggest of her generation. She was, yes. She is, no. At present, she is far from being the biggest female artist in her 30s. Can we really call her the biggest from her generation over a period of 17 years when she has been crushed for 15 of them?
Fourth, “most successful”. Most successful isn’t the same as best selling. If we define the CSPC total of both artists achieved each individual year and weight it as per the market of the related year, we will most likely found out that Beyoncé 61,7m equivalent albums have a similar or bigger weight in the music industry since 2003 than Britney 97m have since 1999. The Backstreet Boys easily outperformed Coldplay overall as just like Britney they enjoyed the late 90s market madness, I don’t think anyone would claim they have been the most successful band of the two though.

Single ladies (11,300,000)
Halo (10,700,000)
Irreplaceable (9,400,000
If I were a boy (7,900,000)
Crazy in Love (5,500,000)
Beyonce can't sell singles they said not only did she sell them, she made them iconic

He's been doing a great job here, but if he does count spotify he should also include other streaming services as YT f.e.
Shakira's pure Aabum sales are off (ignoring some of her biggest market, f.e. not a single copie for Colombia in album sales, where she has 3 Diamond albums). Other Latin American markets are missing, too, even though he mentions himself that the sales climate was still healthy in Latin America in the 90's. But still an amazing overall figure considering she only has 4 albums in English language, 53M .

Wow, this was in your mind huh? Although, I shouldn't be too shocked. It's obvious that Bey and DC are separate so it makes sense that the truth kinda rises above your subconscious time to time and make correct statements
-
Anyways, the entire point of record sales is to show off relevancy years. When stans brag about record sales, it's to show relevancy years and how big it was etc. Like Gaga selling 28M SPS with TFM, shows off relevancy years that were huge. It's the same with consistency, like Beyonce selling 14M with DIL to 7M with BEYONCE shows consistency of relevancy. That's the entire point of record sales, to show who was relevant to the GP and what time (and how big it was)
Beyonce was literally a B Lister in 1997-2002, so those DC sales trying to be shown as relevancy years for her is clumsy and misleading. That's why they're not combined.
61M SPS in 2003-2016 is what shows off her true relevancy. Beyonce = 61M.
