Elton John and Madonna, two close friends of the late artist George Michael, are paying tribute to the singer after his shocking death on Christmas Day.
Elton and George famously collaborated on the song “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” in 1991. They topped both the U.S. and U.K. charts together with the hit.
“I am in deep shock. I have lost a beloved friend – the kindest, most generous soul and a brilliant artist. My heart goes out to his family, friends and all of his fans,” Elton wrote on Instagram.
Madonna paid tribute to George by sharing the clip of her presenting the Video Vanguard Award to the artist at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Farewell My Friend! 🙏🏻 Another Great Artist leaves us. 💔Can 2016 F–k Off NOW?” she captioned the clip.

I know right? Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Keith Haring, Freddie Mercury, Tupac, MJ, Whitney, David Bowie, Prince, George Michael etc. She literally watched her peers and friends die one by one

I wasn't aware she was friends with Freddie or was he in the peer category?
Our legends and icons are leaving us so quickly now. Madonna, Elton, Stevie, Aretha, Paul, Janet, Mariah, Celine, Cher, Tina, etc better live until they're 90+.
I can't stop shaking. This, though, is affecting. It's nice to be reminded of how much he meant, and will always mean, and to how many. A wonderful man.
