this is not a rotating position that changes with each administration so Trump's decision to replace him is very unusual - so not only is it upsetting because it was historic for him to hold this position but it's upsetting because he's being replaced by somebody who is not a career officer in the Army - in fact he only spent a short time in the Army and after that he went on to become a leader in electronic trading, had many shady business dealings in the financial sector, and his IPO (Virtu) contributed to the economic collapse of 2008
