I agree, sadly when this ideology goes to extremes it can be really hard to gasp. Like I had this lecture at my digital culutre class that said how we should tolerate some things and be open to them when we didn't understand the main context of it. (refering to the marriage of children in middle east countries.)

Well extremes are always dangerous for a reason and I think is important to know the context to be able to make a valid judgement, but yeah that is extreme and the thing is that you can be tolerant but there are facts about what is healthy and good for the proper development of a human and a culture shouldn't go against it.

That is true! Change takes a long time to unravel but - in the end - it is worthwhile. I agree that cultural relativism can lead to people not addressing the real issue at hand. For example, it can make it more difficult for people in those cultures to fight the injustices set against them.
What I dislike - in particular - are how some people are conditioned by their culture to excuse each and every belief no matter how problematic it may be. Staying true to your culture is one thing but failing to see the blatant issues with your culture is something else entirely, especially when it becomes damaging to others.
MESS but tbh that example is a prime example of how cultural relativism is a bad thing and why we SHOULD criticise cultures that oppress people. That is an extreme example tho, I agree.
Thanks! I try my best It's interesting to see things from different perspectives tbh. People should try it more often.

I agree with you guys, I of course hope there's a better future ahead and I think there is but yes, it takes a lot of time and even if we continue to progress in certain aspects we will still be creating new problems as we have done the entire history.
And I also agree in how this can be very problematic because it makes it very hard to make a change for the better, after all we are all so flawed that we can't expect our culture to be perfect and just say that something is okay just because is our culture.

I'd love to believe that humanity can reach a point where human rights are favoured over cultural beliefs but unfortunately, it's not easy. Humanity has achieved a lot recently if we put things in perspective so I guess that's something to be hopeful about. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of outdated beliefs still present in society but it's promising to see that most of us agree that they are wrong and should not be accepted.

Yeah that would be great but religion and politics play a huge part here, I'm not trying to disrespect anyone who is religious but religion holds so much power, same with the government and they want to have as much control over the people as they can; many people think and act based on whatever their religion is or they do it because the law says so, even if it is just out of fear.
Sadly, not everyone has access to education (decent education at least) and they don't have the opportunity to see much outside of what they know which makes it very hard them for them to have a wide perspective and embrace change.
