pop rock and alternative rock saw a slight comeback this year with Twenty One Pilots, DNCE and Elle King. So I am guessing it will continue to grow with Paramore, P!nk, Avril Lavigne and Lana Del Rey making their comebacks to the music scene
urban/urban-pop will continue to slay overall. That's what young/cool people listen to/stream. The upside is that there are so many variations of it at once unlike with most other genres where things tend to get samey very quickly during a trend. Also, social media (where millennials are) dictates what will be hits these days, not radio.
as for what trend will catch on to pop radio, I do not know. I just hope the tropical mess dies out.
