Social media is not the same as your music career, it's just another source of income. That said, if you want to correlate the two, her audience doesn't seem to buy music. But the interest is theres since her streaming is excellent

Selena's social media (especially insta numbers) really makes y'all mad like it's either omg how can this talentless flop have all this followers idgi!1!1!11! or she's not even that pretty/relevant/big/famous1!!!1! it's obvs half of yall that comment probably follow her to keep up (taking about miley, ariana, demi, justin bieber etc fans). And Selena clearly has the GP interested in her brand sooooo

Anyway to answer the op , it's just cause social media is free. I follow 273 ppl on insta. I'm not a fan of ALL those 273 ppl but those are the ppl I find interesting to follow like thats it.
