I don't see how a hiatus would've affected them much, but then again they're on their peak so I'm sure the label just wanted to keep pushing. A break of each other would've done wonders for the group, IMO.

From a business point of view, I can see why they didn't go with the hiatus. But at the end of the day: the way the group works, how well the girls get along, and how comfortable they feel with the situation will determine if they will want to continue or not being a part of the group, and well... We're 1 member down. I just keep sinking and sinking with this whole situation. I was NOT ready to let them go, and having 1 girl out (my favorite) just breaks my heart. And now to think there was a possibility of a simple hiatus and they didn't go ahead with it

I really, really dislike for this. Just wow.

I'm so proud of her for standing up for herself and what she wants, no matter how badly people tried to push her in a direction she didn't want. No matter how much hate from strangers who only pass judgement on second hand news she gets, she's following her heart. Something barely anyone can understand but is very inspirational.

Only point that matters here is that we are hopefully getting a single before summer!!

Maybe if the other girls weren't so publicly shady to her, not just trying to force her to therapy behind the scenes while they still toss shade all over social media to her, she would of considered it. She's been taken advantage of enough by these girls who wouldn't even have a record deal without her.

I mean, the "hiatus" option isn't selfish at all. It's actually the opposite.

The group WOULD have stayed together and everyone would have still gotten the opportunity to do their own thing. That's basically what Destiny's Child did before they got back together in 2004.

Wow, the fact that she wanted a hiatus just makes her look even worse. It proves that her painting the group as a "toxic environment she needed to leave for her happiness" was BS because she knew she still needed another album with them to increase her exposure. Why should the other girls wait around for a year while she makes a solo album when they could be continuing the group? Like Simon said, it's a machine and you need to strike while the iron's hot or else public interest will wane. I also agree with the anonymous industry power player who said her potential solo success shouldn't be based on songs that she's featured on. Camila made her move too early and she'll ultimately come to regret it. Also lol @ the fact that LA wouldn't let her leave the group unless she signed to Epic, poor Charlie Walk.

5H weren't big enough to take a long hiatus. They could have taken like 5-6 months off and have each girl put out a feature or a random solo buzz track, but that's it. I'm assuming the hiatus her camp suggested was much more than that.

So basically this confirms what I've suspected since the announcement - that Camila was allowed to release solo projects, and a general compromise was eventually established that the girls could release solo material while still being part of the group (since the article talks about how all 5 of their contracts allowed for both solo and group releases), but that wasn't enough for Camila - she wanted to focus entirely on her solo career and didn't see the value in simultaneously keeping up with the group.

Anyways, Epic would be dumb as hell to not renew a group contract with 4H. Their fanbase is so passionate right now, and they're getting so much publicity and attention. I don't see any reason why a record label WOULDN'T want to release an album under these circumstances.

Why are Camila stans so delusional? It's like they only see it from one side. Even I can acknowledge that sometimes OT4 was unnecessarily shady on camera or at least needed to learn to control their body language.

The girl isn't innocent. She's not the only one with a dream and a heart to follow. She wanted to put theirs on hold so that she could go and do her thing. How is that fair to them? They had every reason to be upset. Not just with career stuff but how she acted. Although they had internal conflict, they still posted group pics on IG. She's been cropping them out for almost 2 years and promoted her own solo singles on her social media more than any of the group's music and was way more excited about them.

Yes, but Destiny's Child went on hiatus after three albums, 4 Grammys, and multiple number one singles here and abroad.

This ... is not the case. This is a PCD thing - one album done and the star (in her mind) thinks it's time to break free.
