Why people shouldn't give Trump a chance to prove himself.
Watch this incredibly relevant video from talented actor Christoph Waltz about why that claim is utterly wrong.
It is honestly offensive to ask people who have been discriminated against to give the people who are discriminating against them a chance. It is a thoroughly privileged perspective. It is very easy to sit and play the devil's advocate when you are not concerned with the issue yourself. It is mostly white people that think that sitting and listening to Donald Trump because "it might not be all that bad". Well, guess what? It is all that bad and even worse.
I know this seems random, but I have seen an increasing number of people who have refused to take sides for the oh-so-stupid sake of looking level-headed and I thought it needed to be addressed how incredibly selfish it was.
Donald had plenty of chances on the campaign trail in both the primaries and the general election. People kept anticipating a shift in character once he was taken serious as a candidate, once he was the presumptive nominee, once he was the official nominee, once he was actively campaigning in the general election, once he became the president-elect, and now we find ourselves in a very similar position of idiots that can't learn from history saying that there will be "a shift in character" once he is officially the actively serving president.
There is no other Donald Trump. This is it. That dumbass buffoon will be the 45th president of the United States. And he hasn't earned the need of another chance from the American people.
I just don't think people realize it's not just 4 years. Or 8. The policies and actions of a president's administration can have consequences, good and bad, for decades and sometimes even centuries.
Hilary Clinton wasn't perfect and she wasn't my first choice but of the final Two, she was the best choice. She advocated for women, eventually came around to LGBT rights (for whatever reason and whether it was sincere or not it still is a public display of support) and had experience dealing with leaders and keeping Putin in check.
When everybody but the current rich see that their lives have gotten worse, the next president will be a democrat and will win by a large margin just like Obama. People have the memory of a goldfish.
